It's worth all the effort and every penny of your train ticket to venture to Skipton to visit Stanforth's, a 'Celebrated Pork Pie Establishment'. Expect a queue, then tears of happiness when you finally try one.

If you go to Crossgates for anything, go for Wilsons. A true Leeds establishment, Wilsons does all sorts of pies, but specialises in the pork variety, with their seasoned jelly and local pork. So good, they've previously won the Pork Pie Appreciation Society annual competition prize. Don't rest until you've tried one. And, if you've a special occasion coming up, or a friend who's particularly passionate about the delicacy, they'll even personalise a pie for you.

Just look at that lid. So wonderful. Midnight Bell use their own ale in the steak pie, and serve it alongside and steamed veg and creamy chive mash. That hangover? Gone.
