These 17 Couples Broke Up Because One Of Them Did Something AWFUL, And I'm Shocked These People Are Walking Among Us

"I found out my girlfriend was using fake social media accounts to bully and harass other women — including my ex wife. Instantly dumped."

Not all relationships are meant to last. In fact, not everyone should be in a relationship at all.

Recently, u/OpeningIntelligent83 asked, "What grossed you out so much in a relationship that you just left?" Here are some of the best responses:

Content note: Mentions of emotional abuse and stalking.

1. "She was jealous of me spending time with my sister and implied our relationship 'wasn’t normal.' I was so grossed out by the implication and dumped her the next day."

2. "I briefly dated a girl who never cleaned her adult toys. It was all I could do to not retch. I played it off like the batteries had died in it."

3. "I showered at his place after staying over and asked for a towel. He gave me one which had literal skin flakes on. I asked for a clean one, and he asked what I meant. He didn't realize that you need to wash towels, because 'they just have water on them, so they clean themselves.'"

4. "I told him I needed space. The next day, I got a text from a random number claiming to be his sister saying he was in the hospital. I knew it was him using a spoofing app, so I blocked the number. This man lied to me on several occasions by telling me he'd been shot, stabbed, and poisoned. I was naive and lonely at that time in my life. But this was the breaking point for me. I dove head first into therapy and never looked back."

5. "I dated a girl who always seemed really well put together. We usually hooked up at my place. When I finally went to her apartment, the smell was awful. There was a super small walkway through the mounds of dirty clothes to the bathroom. She proudly pointed out a moldy dish and said that it was from when she cooked dinner for two of our mutual friends...three months prior! I noped the hell outta there."

6. "He bragged about how he cheated on all his high school girlfriends, yet I was still shocked when he did the same thing to me."

7. "A woman I was dating doted on my kids as though they were her own, but she treated her biological kids like they no longer existed or mattered. That was a MASSIVE red flag. Years later, I still feel bad for her kids and pray everything turned out well for them."

8. "He was on trial for kidnapping and manslaughter, but I didn't find out until he was found guilty of the kidnapping charges (not manslaughter, though). He kept trying to call me from jail."

9. "My ex used to say that she wanted to be inside my skin. It was her way of saying she desired me, but it was off-putting. When I asked her to stop, she couldn't understand what was so uncomfortable about it. Pretty soon after that, I went on a week-long work trip. Three days in, she asked if she could see other people while I was gone. I broke up with her pretty much instantaneously."

10. "She got super drunk at my sister-in-law's house. After spilling a second glass of red wine on the white carpet, we opted to move her glass further away from the edge of the table. As soon as we left, she screamed at me in a full-fledged rage for 'not defending her.'"

11. "He excitedly showed me a box of things he'd been collecting from me without my knowledge. This included strands of my hair taped up neatly, bobby pins and hair pins I wore to prom, my fingerprints, and a saliva sample he took out of the trash from our forensics class experiments. He thought this was a romantic gesture or something, but it just made me realize how creepy and obsessive he was."

12. "The swastika tattoo I found on her chest was obviously an IMMEDIATE turn-off."

13. "My mom had just died a few weeks earlier, and I was exhausted and in a traumatic phase of grief after a year of watching her cancer treatments. The woman I was seeing told me I needed to get over it and can't just be alone inside all the time. I never spoke to her again."

14. "She was looking at clothes in the mall. If she pulled something off the display shelf and didn't like it, she would just toss it on the ground because 'someone gets paid to put it back!'"

15. "We went to a restaurant, and she treated the server like absolute shit. Yeah, that was it for me. I suddenly had zero interest in her."

16. "I went away with my ex and saw his toothbrush for the first time. It had black mold growing on it (not charcoal toothpaste), and the bristles were so flat that the toothbrush had a middle part. I had a conversation with him about hygiene and told him to get a new toothbrush, but the cursed toothbrush was still there when I stayed at his place two weeks later. So I ended it."
