This Photo Will Ruin Your Childhood If You Grew Up In Sydney

Get ready to be sad, Sydney!

Remember that awesome water feature at Darling Harbour? That one you'd try and jump over without getting soaked or smashing your face on the concrete? Well, we've got some bad news for you. It's been filled in.

It's all part of a massive $2.5 billion upgrade for the tourist precinct, which will see all your favourite childhood activities ripped up and replaced with the new International Convention Centre and hotel complex.

This is what the area will look like when it's all finished. They've promised new water features, but we all know they'll be "safe" and "OH&S compliant" a.k.a. NO FUN.

People on Reddit are already mourning the loss of the awesome water feature.

It's not even the first thing to go. You might have noticed Darling Harbour's slippery vortex has already been sacrificed to the gods of redevelopment.

A spokesperson from Infrastructure NSW says the spiral water feature will return!

"It’s covered now to protect it while we work to make Darling Harbour better than ever before," she told BuzzFeed News.

And take a quiet moment to reflect on the glory that was once Sega World Sydney.

And do you remember going on school excursions to IMAX? Where boring docos about the African savannah were MIND-BLOWING because the screen was so damn big? Well that's getting demolished soon, too.

In its place will be a 20-storey cinema and commercial office tower called "The Ribbon".

So hang on to those precious memories, kids! Because soon that'll be all you have left.
