13 Fun Activities You May Technically Be Able To Do On Mars

Water on Mars? Grab your swimsuit.

In case you haven't heard, NASA announced that there is "strong evidence" for the existence of liquid water on the surface of Mars. Do you know what that means?

It means there's an IRL space beach out there, waiting to be played on! You can do so many things on a space beach! Things like...

It's like a slip n' slide but in SPACE!

    2. Spaceboarding

It's surfboarding, but along the salty shores of a planet that is not Earth!

    3. Boogieboarding (with aliens)

Slide belly-down next to the other fun, water-loving citizens of our galaxy.

    4. Mars tanning

A day on Mars is 37 minutes longer than a day on earth, meaning roughly 19 more minutes of sunlight. Make sure to wear sunscreen.

    5. Building salt castles

NASA's evidence for water includes the presence of "hydrated salts" along what appear to be water-formed lines in the ground a tower of pure white sodium! Build it to the sky!

    6. Looking through tidepools for literal, actual starfish

Get it? Because you're among the stars!

    7. Beach volleyball

No idea how the gravity conditions on Mars would support a pickup game of volleyball but you should proooobably start working on your spike again. Just in case.

    8. Reading a nice book

Suggested beach reads for your space vacation on Mars include The Martian, The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, and the Gossip Girl series (so different from the show).

    9. Parasailing with ROCKETS

Have you ever seen those cool people parasailing on the beach? If you parasail on Mars you can make them SHIT THEMSELVES with envy. Who's the cool one now?

    10. Swimming

Have your beach vacation written down in the annals of human history by being the first person brave enough to swim in the waters of Mars.

    11. Spending time with your family

A relaxing beachside vacation on Mars is the perfect way to restore harmony to your frazzled nerves. If the beautiful (probably) beaches of Mars aren't enough, then the nine-month trip there and back will give you plenty of time to work out your issues.

    12. Stargazing differently

Camp out on the space beach and gaze up at an unobstructed view of the stars, which will probably look a little funny because you're on the wrong planet.

    13. Freezing in the lawless abyss of space.

The temperature on Mars is a cool -55ºC, so being outside sans spacesuit is ill-advised.
