Not only has the internet totally dragged the duo for their apparent lack of chemistry, but Ashton's wife, Mila Kunis, is also on their case about it.
And while Ashton says he didn't want to start any rumors of "having an affair" by getting too close to Reese, he noted that there's one other reason red carpets are difficult for him.
"I can't hear very well, I'm hard of hearing in one ear and I can only hear in the other," Ashton said during an appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast.
He continued, "I don't know who's yelling my name but I know there's a lot of people yelling, 'Reese! Ashton! Over here! Over here! Look at this one!'"
Ashton says there comes a time when he just wants to be done with it all — and the camera is bound to capture an awkward shot.
"And at a certain point you're like, 'God this is really something. Look at the camera? Got it. Are we done? Awesome,'" Ashton said.
He continued, "For like 20 minutes. If you're gonna tell me in that entire 20-minute period, at one point, you're not gonna have an awkward face on, then you're better than I am."
To be fair, Ashton and Reese have looked a lot more natural since being called out for their awkward photos.
