If youāve been seeing red-tinted videos on your timeline that remind you of the āCell Block Tango,ā then youāve been blessed by the #SilhouetteChallenge, which has amassed over 112 million views on TikTok.
Set to a musical mashup of āStreetsā by Doja Cat and āPut Your Head on My Shoulderā by Paul Anka, the #SilhouetteChallenge features confident souls in sweats, robes, or any casual wear of choice as they lean into a doorway before suddenly being bathed in red light, and all you can see is their body-ody-ody posed in a sultry silhouette.
If the trend sounds slightly familiar, thatās because there have been a few previous iterations.
Last July, the same #SilhouetteChallenge hashtag was used by anime creators on TikTok who pictured themselves in intimate poses with popular characters.
With a little time, creators in the same community evolved the trend to include animated versions of the character's silhouette, which interacted with them.
After more traction, mainstream accounts latched on and used the effect to picture themselves with anyone ā living or 2D ā they had a crush on.
Though itās hard to say who created the recent sexy flip of the trend, we can't ignore the impact of Grown-ish star Chloe Bailey, whose recent silhouette Twitter performance gave the hashtag a newfound push toward viral status.
a special performance for all of you. THANK YOU for all your love and support. letās celebrate together in reaching 1Million followers (IG: chloebailey) š„³š„°š
Now the remake is open to everyone.
Even couples.
Regardless of its origin, the #SilhouetteChallenge seems as though itāll be sticking around for a while. So, obviously, I had to figure out how to make my own.
Step 1: Put on a Casual Outfit
Step 2: Find a Door Frame That Doesnāt Have Too Much Clutter Behind It
Pro Tip: Turn your lights off in whatever room the camera is in and keep lights on in the room that will be displayed behind you in order to create the optimal silhouette.
Step 3: Start Filming, Act Casual, and Lean Into a Pose
Step 4: Switch to Snapchat!
Step 5: Shoot Your Sexy Clips
PSA: if yāall do the #silhouettechallenge please do not do it completely naked. Long story short, red is a primary color that can be easily removed with video editing. If you donāt want your naked highly visible butt shared on the web.. you know the rest
Step 6: Put the Clips Together
Here is my finished masterpiece:
Well yāall. For work today, I made a #silhouettechallenge tutorial š
Thatās it! Youāve got your finished product and a video worthy of any social timeline. Congrats, you sexy thing!
Honestly, as someone who isn't thiqq or especially curvy, this still made me feel super POWERFUL, and I highly recommend making one. Even if you keep the video just for yourself.
