Hidden Details In Harry Potter That Are Too Good To Be Missed

Have you ever thought about holding the word 'Erised' in front of a mirror...?

**wArninG** : This will contain some spoilers Anyways... some of these are pretty obvious, but some will literally kill you... Sooo I'll get started now

1. Mirror of erised... in front of a normal mirror

Well, not the whole thing, just the word 'erised'... go ahead try it out, I'm waiting... You got it didn't you! If you haven't already figured it out, erised backwards spells desire .Yup. Whatever you're thinking, yes. Dumbledore once famously said

'' It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest, most desperate DESIRE of our hearts.''

So... in conclusion the mirror of desire shows us our deepest most desperate desire.

2. Wait... but did you read the inscription on the top of the mirror?

Sure, 'Erised' spelt backwards is desire, but... the inscription at the top of the mirror (The text says "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi") spelt backwards (give or take a few spaces) is 'I show not your face, but your hearts desire.' Well, that's pretty cool!

3. In Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, there's a portrait of Anne Boleyn, who was accused of witchcraft by Henry VIII.

Wait... so does that mean she was a witch?!

4.The Leaky Cauldron sign is visible only to magic people

The sign to the Leaky Cauldron is black and blank at first, but as Hagrid and Harry approach it, it slowly appears and displays a black and gold emblem with a cauldron on it reading "The Leaky Cauldron."

5. Hermione and Amortentia

When listing what she smells, (in the books) Hermione says she smells Freshly mown grass and new parchment. However, she pauses when the fumes turn bright red, the same colour as Ron's hair.

6. In the Order of the Phoenix, some students are eating Cheeri-Owls cereal

This one was a bit of a laugh.

7. Scarves are more than just accessories

The way Harry, Ron and Hermione wear their scarves tell us a bit about them. Hermione's is carefully, neatly tied and tucked in, whereas Ron's is lazily draped around his neck. Harry's is tucked in, but loosely thrown over his shoulder.

8. Snape's first words to Harry are actually... a secret message

Asphodel is actually a lily (the name of Harry's mother, who Snape loved until his dying day), which means death. Wormwood, meanwhile, symbolizes absence and bitter regret. So what Snape is actually saying is something along the lines of: "I bitterly regret Lily's death."?

Well, I don't know if that was intentional, but... it definitely was cool!

9. In the Prisoner of Azkaban, Malfoy's arm that was supposedly injured by Buckbeak is the one he uses to shove Neville, which shows the injury is fake.

Oh well.

10. In the Deathly Hallows: Part Two movie, at the end, in the battle of hogwarts, Harry, something significant from all the previous books shows up

A troll, acromantula, a werewolf (Fenrir Greyback), The Order Of The Phoenix shows up, and then the Half Blood Prince shows up. Wow.

11. In Tom Riddle's room at the orphanage, he has seven rocks lined up on his window sill, foreshadowing his seven horcruxes.

12. Oh, and speaking of Tom Riddle's meeting with Dumbledore at the orphanage, did you notice the picture of the cave in which he hid the locket?

13. In each of the movies, as the plot grew darker, so did the Warner Brothers logo at the start

Yep.

14. When Neville is sent a Remembrall, it turns red, meaning he forgot something, only he can't remember what he forgot. But since he's the only student not wearing any robes, it's safe to assume that's what he forgot.

Oh Neville.

15. You can see Mcgonagall's name on a badge next to Harry's father's.

She was a seeker!

16. Oh, and speaking of which...

A little to the right of Mcgonagall's badge, there is the award given to Tom Riddle for special services to Hogwarts, but it is later revealed that... he didn't exactly deserve it.

17. Harry's scar burns in The Sorcerer's Stone because Quirrell has his back to him, meaning Voldemort, on the back of Quirrell's head, is facing him.

18. The Ministry of Magic's access code is 6-2-4-4-2, which spells out m-a-g-i-c on a telephone.

On muggle telephones, 6-2-4-4-2 spells m-a-g-i-c. It probably wasn't the most secure password for the Ministry of Magic to have, but it was still pretty cool. We first see this when Arthur Weasley dials it, in The Order Of The Phoenix, when escorting Harry to his hearing for using magic outside school.

19. In 'Prisoner of Azkaban,' a wizard is reading Stephen Hawking's 'A Brief History of Time.'

You might have been distracted by the fact that he was twirling his finger in the air, while his spoon stirred the drink for him.

20. Severus Snape is still fighting for the good guys even when he duels McGonagall in 'Deathly Hallows — Part II.'

Just before the Battle of Hogwarts, and just after Harry confronts Snape, Professor McGonagall steps in to defend her former student and duels Severus.

Snape, however, is clearly not interested in fighting, and instead just uses defense charms to protect himself. He cleverly deflects McGonagall's spells so they hit the two death eaters (Alecto and Amycus Carrow) behind him, and then he collects their wands just before he flees through the window.

21. In 'The Half-Blood Prince,' Slughorn's feet give him away when he is disguised as an armchair.

22. Slughorn drinks a vial of liquid luck right before the Battle of Hogwarts in 'Deathly Hallows — Part II.'

... which is probably how he survived with not so much as a cut on him.

23. In 'Chamber of Secrets,' Ron wears robes that are noticeably older and dingier than his peers', probably because they were hand-me-downs.

Which is pretty ironic, considering they were made in the luxury department store at Harrods.

24. In 'The Goblet of Fire,' a reflection of Nagini slithering can be seen in the Warner Bros. logo.

25. Another option on the clock is 'dentist,' even though dentists don't exist in the magical world.

This was probably added for Arthur Weasley.

26. In 'Prisoner of Azkaban,' Newt Scamander appears on the Marauder's Map.

What he was there for, I don't know.

27. In 'Goblet of Fire,' Dobby briefly appears at the Quidditch World Cup camp.

gosh I love him.

28. In 'Order of the Phoenix,' Sirius says 'nice one, James' when Harry disarms Lucius Malfoy, the same thing he said to Harry's dad in an earlier flashback.
