A Definitive Ranking Of Lindsay Lohan's Filmography

With the first part of her docu-series airing this weekend and the recent announcement of her latest film project, it's time we look back at the best and worst from Lindsay Lohan's cinema vault.

19. inAPPropriate Comedy

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2013

This one should go without explaining but I'll just remind you that this is considered one of the worst movies ever made. I mean, who even saw this?

18. Scary Movie 5

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2013

Only slightly better than inAPPropriate Comedy. The Scary Movie franchise has been stretched out for far too long and here's the proof. The first couple were funny, after that it felt like the concept was being dragged on. By the time the 5th installment was released, I had had enough. Lindsay plays herself in this movie and it's a mockery scene so there's no need to analyze her acting here as I'd just consider it a cameo.

17. Labor Pains

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2009

She does what she can with the role so let's give her that, but this Made-For-TV movie is pretty forgetful in comparison to other roles she's done. Take into account that the concept is of a girl who pretends to be pregnant and goes as far as wearing a fake belly to keep her lie going. How many times has this plot been used in soap operas? Too many to count.

16. Liz & Dick

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2012

OVER THE TOP is the only way to describe this movie. The script is really a problem here along with a slew of other things (i.e. Lindsay's wigs, her as an older Elizabeth Taylor). I mean, where was the story line leading to? It started to fizzle out for me after the first hour. Surprisingly, I find that the striped down, interview scenes showcase Lindsay's talent better than all the crazy antics going on during the rest of the movie.

15. Just My Luck

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2006

It's corny and cheesy. Normally those are words that you would describe most romantic comedies to be like, but this movie is like adding popcorn to your butter. The story is incredibly predictable, making the acting not take that much of an effort. This is the movie you leave playing on your TV while you are drifting into sleep in the middle of the night.

14. Chapter 27

Via celeblite.com

Year Released: 2007

Chapter 27 follows the events leading up to the assassination of John Lennon by Mark David Chapman. Lindsay's character is fictional and she plays a supporting role in case some of you are wondering why this one doesn't sound familiar to you. The movie doesn't measure up well with critics, but the storyline has more depth to it than movies that rank below it. This is also one of the few times we've seen Lindsay in a purely dramatic role which is refreshing.

13. The Canyons

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2013

This indie film is Lindsay's most recent project. The story is set in Hollywood and centers around her character's boyfriend, played by James Deen (his other work is NSFW), who turns violent against her once he learns what she is hiding. Although the movie might have not done well critically, her performance here is pretty descent so it's worth noting. She came to fame for a reason, the girl can act.

12. I Know Who Killed Me

Via images5.fanpop.com

Year Released: 2007

Yes. Lindsay once again shows off her ability to play twins. Her characters are polar opposites who have never met. Sound familiar? You either hate or love this one. If you are part of the former group, I'll let you know that I do know some people who absolutely love this film, which is why it stands where it does on this list. This is the closest thing to a horror film that you'll get from the list of movies Lindsay's done. It's gory. It's raunchy. It's pretty out there.

11. Machete

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2010

There is a lot of killing going on in this movie and as you can see above, Lindsay takes part in all the action, but like in Chapter 27, her role is minimal and she doesn't have a lot of on-screen time in comparison to other supporting roles she's played. There isn't much substance to it but it's okay because it's one of those films that are just fun to watch, and Lindsay Lohan in an action film? Nice!

10. Herbie: Fully Loaded

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2005

The end of Lindsay's Disney-era. This movie was released following her more successful teen movies which put it in a weird place for me. Sweet, wholesome, Maggie Peyton couldn't convince me enough to forget about Cady Heron. Who could forget about Cady Heron?? That doesn't mean that the movie wasn't entertaining. Lindsay racing in a VW bug is pretty charming.

9. Bobby

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2006

A fictional account of events leading up to Bobby Kennedy's assassination, this film contains an ensemble cast which includes Elijah Wood, Laurence Fishburne, Anthony Hopkins, and Helen Hunt among others. Brunette Lindsay plays Diane Howser, a girl in love. I know Lindsay fans may not necessarily give a movie the light of day if she's not in the leading role, but if you are a die-hard Lindsay fan, this movie is definitely worth giving it a try.

8. Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2004

I believe that there are movies out there that may not have favorable reviews from critics but are still widely loved. I guess you can call them guilty pleasures and for me, this is one of them. It may be because I was a teenage girl when it was released but it really doesn't matter why. Lindsay plays an aspiring teenage actress who's family moves away from New York City to the suburbs of New Jersey, tragic. It is musical theater within a film and it is gold. Not to mention that her arch nemesis is played by Megan Fox and they have a DDR-style dance battle in a mall arcade.

7. A Prairie Home Companion

Year Released: 2006

It truly amazes me how very few people have seen this movie. It is underrated beyond my understanding and belief. Lindsay plays MERYL STREEP'S character's daughter, Lola, a girl venturing her way through teen angst. She also sings in this movie and it is pure magic, as you can see when you watch the clip above. If that doesn't convince you then let me name-drop a few actors who also star in this film: Maya Rudolph, Woody Harrelson, John C. Reilly, and Tommy Lee Jones among others.

6. Get A Clue

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2002

A whodunit movie starring Lindsay as an investigative journalist trying to find her missing teacher with the help of three friends. She has her eyes set on becoming a serious reporter for The New York Times which is an impressive feat. Brenda Song plays her BFF who helps her out with the investigation. Remember when Disney Channel made good movies for kids? (i.e. The Halloweentown Series, The Zenon Series, The Luck Of The Irish, Cadet Kelly, The Color Of Friendship).

5. Georgia Rule

Via images6.fanpop.com

Year Released: 2007

Scratch your heads critics because Georgia Rule is GREAT and not in a guilty pleasure kind of way but in a I ACTUALLY REALLY LIKE THIS MOVIE way. I know a good number of people that agree with me on this one. The story teaches us about love, trust, forgiveness and most importantly, family. There is a great sense of inter-generational bonding that this movie excels in, along with portraying the issues of a problematic mother-daughter relationship.

4. Life-Size

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2000

Life-Size is so good that I almost forget it was made for TV. The movie touches base on the subject of losing a parent at a young age. It's pretty heavy stuff for a children's movie but it's a topic worth discussing in a household even if you aren't in that situation. It gives kids perspective and allows them to empathize. It also shows kids that a bond can be created with someone as a paternal or maternal figure if they allow them into their lives.

3. Freaky Friday

Via wordpress.com

Year Released: 2003

Mother and daughter butt heads. Mother and daughter switch bodies. Mother and daughter are literally in each other's shoes and learn more about one another. Nice plot right? Good enough to make a remake? Disney seemed to think so and I'm glad they did (not that I have anything against the original). This movie shows range for both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. Curtis has to act like a teenager in an adult's body for most of the movie and Lohan has to act like a mother in a teenager's body. Basically, Lindsay Lohan has to pretend that acting like someone her own age is strange to her and she nails it (same goes for Curtis).

2. The Parent Trap

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 1998

You don't have a heart if you don't love this movie. Lindsay Lohan plays twins who meet at a summer camp for the first time and switch places in order to spend time with the parent they've never met. She plays two people in one film. TWO PEOPLE. She is able to keep her character's personalities in-check throughout the film and was only 11 years old at the time it was released. The film also introduces us to the world's best secret handshake.

1. Mean Girls

Via tumblr.com

Year Released: 2004

There really isn't a description I see fit for this one that everyone will agree on, but I think we all know that this is a gem. Can you believe it's been 10 years? I sure can't and I think that's largely due to the fact that it doesn't feel outdated. You can play this for teenagers now and it won't be something that they think is a representation of the generation before them. Everyone in this movie is great. Every character is memorable. This is what teen movies should aspire to be. It's the most quotable film I've ever seen... it's like word vomit.
