17 Weird "Glee" Performances That Made Even Gleeks Say, "WTF Just Happened?"

The New Directions always had a ~unique~ stage presence.

    1. "The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)"

    Fox

    Episode: "Puppet Master"

Why this performance was weird: Where do I begin? The masks, the puppets, the song choice in general — it was all too out there! Tbh, thinking about this performance still keeps me up at night.

    2. "Run Joey Run"

    Fox

    Episode: "Bad Reputation"

Why this performance was weird: This was both a bizarre and *iconic* Glee performance. The overacting by Rachel was hilarious and the music video was so wildly dramatic.

    3. "I Still Believe/Super Bass"

    Fox

    Episode: "Feud"

Why this performance was weird: Honestly, this mashup started pretty cute. Things became goofy when Sue started rapping "Super Bass." And Sue rapping was weird enough, but putting wigs and costumes on top of that really brought it over the top.

    4. "Let's Have a Kiki/Turkey Lurkey Time"

    Fox

    Episode: "Thanksgiving"

Why this performance was weird: It was the most random and offputting thing for Glee to mash up these two songs. It's hard to not cringe when Rachel starts singing "Turkey Lurkey Time."

    5. "It's a Man's Man's Man's World"

    Fox

    Episode: "Funk"

Why this performance was weird: Honestly, WTF was this performance, LOL? Quinn sang while pregnant teens who were very far along danced back up with ~unique~ choreography.

    6. "With You I'm Born Again"

    Fox

    Episode: "Duets"

Why this performance was weird: Finn and Rachel singing a love song while dressed up as a priest and a schoolgirl had my jaw on the FLOOR.

    7. "The Chipmunk Song (Don't Be Late for Christmas)"

    Fox

    Episode: "Previously Unaired Christmas"

Why this performance was weird: Kurt, Santana, and Rachel singing after using helium balloons to make their voices resemble chipmunks' was one of the oddest things I've seen on TV.

    8. "Hair / Crazy in Love"

    Fox

    Episode: "Hairography"

Why this performance was weird: This performance focused solely on terrible wigs and excessive hair flips.

    9. "Love Child"

    Fox

    Episode: "Previously Unaired Christmas"

Why this performance was weird: Truly, this is one of the strangest and funniest things Glee has EVER done. Unique dressed as the Virgin Mary, pretending to go into labor and then dancing with newborn "baby Jesus" was hilariously absurd.

    10. "Push It"

    Fox

    Episode: "Showmance"

Why this performance was weird: So this performance was meant to be awkward and the New Directions made sure it was by basically dry humping on stage. Honestly, this performance was a classic!

    11. "Dinosaur"

    Fox

    Episode: "Prom-asaurus"

Why this performance was weird: I thought the dinosaur-themed prom was peculiar enough, but then came along Brittany dressed as a cavewoman and backed by cheerleaders who wore giant dinosaur heads.

    12. "Physical"

    Fox

    Episode: "Bad Reputation"

Why this performance was weird: Sue and Olivia Newton John recreating the "Physical" music was just so ridiculous, from all of the men in spandex to Sue's auto-tuned vocals.

    13. "Lose My Breath"

    Fox

    Episode: "Child Star"

Why this performance was weird: A 12-year-old doing elaborate choreo along with dancers to "Lose My Breath" was — well, honestly, I'm still speechless.

    14. "Roar"

    Fox

Episode: "A Katy or a Gaga"

Why this performance was weird: Whew, a lot was going on here! There were the random Katy Perry and Lady Gaga costumes, the jungle set in the auditorium, and high schoolers performing half-naked at school.

    15. "We Found Love"

    Fox

    Episode: "Yes/No"

Why this performance was weird: The New Directions did a synchronized swim routine, Artie wheeled himself into the pool, and Mr. Schue walked on water in a questionable white suit. It was all so extravagant, random, and unnecessary.

    16. "Blurred Lines"

    Fox

    Episode: "The End of Twerk"

Why this performance was weird: I still can't believe I watched two whole minutes of the New Directions awkwardly "twerking."

    17. "Gangnam Style"

    Fox

    Episode: "Thanksgiving"

Why this performance was weird: The New Directions singing this at a show choir competition was extremely cringeworthy because the song was so meme-y and was bound to feel forced.
