What's A Traumatic Storyline From A TV Show That Was Completely Unnecessary?

Honestly, a lot of 13 Reasons Why storylines were not needed.

Warning: this post contains mentions of eating disorders.

Sometimes, TV shows will have a storyline that doesn't serve the show at all, ruins a character, or is just never brought up again. And oftentimes, these storylines are about serious and traumatic subject matter.

So, I want to know a traumatic storyline from a TV show that you feel didn’t need to be written in the first place.

For example, maybe you were watching the series finale of 13 Reasons Why and thought it was excessive how they killed Justin off by having him suddenly learn he had HIV that had progressed to AIDs and had gone undetected for years.

Maybe you were a fan of the OG Pretty Little Liars and hated how they referenced Hanna's eating disorder in flashbacks but never properly addressed it.

Alison tells Hanna she knows a way to help her feel better, leading to her becoming bulimic

Or, maybe you were a Gleek and found the whole storyline with Quinn being paralyzed in a car accident pointless because she was able to walk and dance again seven episodes later, and it was never, ever mentioned again.
