What Rom-Com Fact Blew Your Mind?

Everyone knows that the plot of Bridget Jones' Diary is based on Pride and Prejudice, but did you know that the allusions run even deeper?


Bridget falls in love with Mark Darcy (named for Fitzwilliam Darcy, the lead male character in Pride and Prejudice), and the publishing house where Bridget works is called Pemberley Press. Pemberley was the name of Darcy's house in the book.

The high school in Clueless is called Bronson Alcott High – according to director Amy Heckerling it is named for “one of the first big feminists who thought women should get an education…"
