    2. The longest piece of literature ever written is a Super Smash Brothers Brawl fan-fiction. It's over 4 million lines long.

    3. The announcer for Brawl was also the announcer for Bill Nye, the Science Guy.

    4. American Idol winner Taylor Hicks placed 257th (out of 709) in a 2013 Super Smash Bros. Melee national competition.

    The tournament was EVO 2013 and was the largest Smash Bros. tournament ever at the time.

    5. Remember King Dedede's distorted, gravelly yelps from Super Smash Bros. Brawl? Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros., voices the character in every Smash he's appeared in.

    6. Recently deceased CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, was almost single-handedly responsible for Super Smash Bros. Melee meeting its release date. Though he was a General Manager of Corporate Planning at the time, he rolled up his sleeves and personally debugged the game for three weeks straight.

    12. Marth and Roy were nearly cut from the American version of Super Smash Bros. Melee, because no Fire Emblem games had yet been released in the states. Ironically, the inclusion of the two characters increased the popularity of the series and led to more localizations.

    13. In the English version of Melee, Mewtwo only speaks in grunts, but in the Japanese version, he speaks in full sentences during his victory poses, saying things like "why am I here?"

    14. The Hylian text on the Hyrule Temple stage translates to "Smash Bros."

    It was designed as a new format of fighting game that utilized the N64's unique joystick. The prototype used stick-figures and featured a picture of HAL Laboratory's neighborhood as a backdrop. It was only later that rights to use Nintendo characters was given to Sakurai.

    20. There are textures of a damaged Hylian Shield, a scratched Meta Knight's mask and a cracked Captain Falcon's helmet left in Brawl, which implies that battle damage was once intended to be a feature in the game.

    21. Ice Climbers were included in Melee because Sakurai considered them the best fit for Smash from a classic NES game. However, other characters from that era were considered, like Balloon Fighter, Urban Champion, Excitebike and Bubbles (from Clu Clu Land).

    22. The 8-Player Smash mode from Smash 4 was originally intended for Melee. However, technical limitations prevented that from becoming a reality.

    29. In the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros., hitting an opponent produces real punching sounds. This was changed to the more cartoonish sounds heard in the American release.
