We've all been through the rollercoaster of emotions that Demi Lovato and her ex-boyfriend Max Erich gave us. The excitment to see that Demi was happy with someone and that it was very serious. Despite the short time, Max wanted to marry her, and she wanted that too. But then something cracked. Fans says it might have been the way Max was exagerrating in promoting his own career while being with Demi, but at this time Demi still haven't spoke clearly about what happened. And she doesn't have to. What we know is that she has released a new song and that it's touching.
But how did the fans knew which song was coming out?
Well, since Demi came back from the hospital and the rehab back in 2019 a leaked part of "Still have me" was already on the internet. And the fans were begging her to relase it since then.
But, if the songs was already on the internet during 2019, how can it be about Max since they haven't met yet? It can't, right?
Exactly, even if Demi admitted that she has rewrite some of the lines so that the song could reflect also the split up. But the fact that she made some changes doesn't make "Still have me" about her ended relationship.
The song is in fact about her journey. Just like some previous songs like "Anyone" and "Sober" Demi wanted to make us participate on what she has been through all these years. She talks about how she has been broken and still is, how she's trying to get better, she let us know about her ups and downs and about the feeling of loneliness that she felt. But Demi also creates a hopeful chorus, where it's almost like she's not only talking to the listeners but mostly to herself, saying "I don't have much but at least I still have me".
That's why the only line that we might reconnect to her breakup is:
"All my love disappeared
And I'm laying right here
While the silence is piercing
And it hurts to breathe"
But still it's not enough to say that "Still have me" is about Max Erich.
Demi preferred to extend the message beyond her broken heart, so that the song could talk to all of the people that are going through an hard time, just like she did.
