Kurtz / BuzzFeed After years of patiently waiting, it seems as if we'll finally be getting a Canadian flag emoji! No offense to the 🍁 maple leaf emoji but it's about damn time. The waving red & white is included in the latest beta versions of Apple's iOS and OSX, sent to developers this month. But hey, Apple, while you're at it, here are some more suggestions: 1. Canadian Bacon Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed We're going to start nice and easy, because we know this might be intimidating for you. First off, we have good old Canadian Bacon. It's just bacon! You love bacon! Mmmm. There's no bacon emoji yet (also suspicious), so this is really like a gift, from us to the world. 2. An Igloo Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed Haha, Canada is cold! Brrrr, winter weather! Here's another one that we think everyone can handle, but for those of us who know... we really know. Whether this was a childhood tradition, or a silly stereotype, or you straight up live in one, we all deserve this emoji.Remember when you thought this 🍙 rice ball emoji was an igloo? Just me? Oops. 3. A Mountie Hat Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed This will pay beautiful homage to our Royal Canadian Mounted Police and a worldwide icon. But beyond that, think of all the amazing usages for this emoji:• When you're dripping with swag• When you're hiding a bad haircut• When you're sleuthing on Tinder• When you're literally Pharrell Williams 4. Hockey Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed Alright, we waited a few before getting to this one because you needed to be lulled into a false sense of comfort and security. But here we are: the hockey emoji.WHERE THE FUCK HAS THIS EMOJI BEEN? You're saying that we can have two skiing emojis and nothing for hockey? There's a fishing pole... is that even a sport?! Mahjong? Definitely not a sport. But let's not compare apples and oranges here. Quite frankly, the omission of a hockey emoji is offensive and we should (politely) demand this one. 5. An "Insincere Apology" Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed The extensive smiley face collection includes an amazing range of expressions, from "Face Throwing a Kiss" to "Face With Look of Triumph." So here's a proposed expression that we would make good use of. For every knee-jerk "sorry" muttered under your breath, fifteen times a day. 6. A Timbit Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed An obvious inclusion is the Tim Horton's Timbit, the most perfect treat in the entire universe. Though we'd start with the Honey Dip variety, Apple will of course need to roll out a range of diverse flavors in a later iOS update. 7. A Toque Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed An absolute necessity, this toque emoji will immediately and incorrectly be called a "knit cap" or "beanie" by the rest of the world, but in its true form, it will remain an important and useful emoji for seven months out of the year. 8. A Jagged Little Pill Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill)It feels so good (swimming in your stomach)The "Jagged Little Pill" emoji serves as a powerful tribute to iconic Canadian recording artist Alanis Morissette, whose album of the same name has sold well over 30 million copies since its release in 1995. Naturally, this prescription would be filled at Shopper's Drug Mart. Take one per day, as directed by your doctor. 9. A "Maple Leaf Eyes" Emoji Tap to play GIF Tap to play GIF Adam J. Kurtz / BuzzFeed With a subtle twist on the classic 😍 heart eyes emoji, this face fully captures the true patriot love that all Canadians have for their home and native land. Plus, these wide, red, leafy eyes are just begging to be re-appropriated as the "I'm stoned, lol" emoji. Another gift to the world from Canadians everywhere.
