Is Sugar Ray's "Every Morning" About Pegging?

A conspiracy theory 18 years in the making.

Anyway, this past Saturday I was listening to "Every Morning" (as I do every Saturday) and a certain lyric stuck out to me for the first time:

"Hold up," I said aloud to nobody. "I think this song is about pegging!"

Comedy Central

If you're not sure what pegging is, it's the sexual practice in which a woman performs anal sex on a man by penetrating the man's anus with a strap-on dildo. Please reference Episode 4 of Broad City's second season for further research.

I decided to analyze (no pun intended) the lyrics a little further. There's plenty of subtle references to getting pegged, enjoying it, and feeling conflicted about the experience.

Even the opening lyric takes on a new meaning when viewed in this new light:

How would one reuse a condom, unless it was only utilized to cover a dildo during a pegging session? Waste not, want not. Mark McGrath loves to recycle.

Confident in my findings, I decided to take my argument to Twitter.

Sugar Ray's "Every Morning" is clearly about pegging. Can you confirm @mark_mcgrath?

Less than two hours later, Mark McGrath himself chimed in to confirm my conspiracy theory!

Finally, an eloquent response to the clearly obvious... https://t.co/EvyqoNsuFk
