In the comics, Aquaman is known as the king of Atlantis, who rules the seas and can telepathically communicate with aquatic life.

His costume is usually some kind of skin-tight orange suit made of scales, which, in Snyder's reimagining, appears to have been largely replaced with scale-like tattoos.

Momoa is still brandishing Aquaman's trident, which traditionally imbued him with many of his powers — not unlike the hammer wielded by Marvel's royal superhero Thor.

The tagline "Unite the Seven" that appears over the image refers, of course, to the Justice League, the seven DC superheroes who have often teamed up to save humanity/the world/the universe/the very fabric of time and space itself.

The first half of a pair of Justice League movies, directed by Snyder, is set for release in 2017, starring Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman — and possibly Ezra Miller as the Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. (There is no word yet on who will play Green Lantern.)In 2018, Momoa is set to star in his own Aquaman movie, followed by the second Justice League film in 2019.Snyder's decision to release an image of the character, however, suggests audiences may see Momoa's Aquaman as soon as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which is scheduled to open on March 25, 2016. The director has alluded to the possibility before.

Eh, I've always found Aquaman kind of lame, and this hasn't yet convinced me otherwise.
