Okay, ladies. Here’s the deal: even though it’s 2014, women still, on average, make just 77 cents for every dollar a man makes. That 23 cent deficit adds up to nearly $11,000 in lost wages each year. That’s some kind of B.S. Fortunately for us, the Senate is set to vote on the Paycheck Fairness Act as soon as next week. The Paycheck Fairness Act provides a much needed update to the Equal Pay Act.
Since we're coming up on the Paycheck Fairness Act vote and Equal Pay Day, which marks how far into 2014 women must work to be paid what men were paid in 2013 alone, we've put together a list of 10 things you could do with the extra $11,000 you would've earned last year if you were a man. Turns out those extra 23 cents per dollar could make a big difference.
