Here Is A Definitive List Of The Best "Glee" Solos For Each Character

    No arguments needed.

Hey guys! My name is Abby, and I'm a hardcore Gleek. I'm in the middle of yet another rewatch of the series, and I decided to do the impossible: choose the best solo for every character in Glee. Ready to hear some BOPS?

    Fox

**Just a note before we get started: I am basing the ranking solely off of the character's performance and story — none of the actors' lives and actions have been considered. Okay, here we go!

Rachel Berry: "Don't Rain On My Parade"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Don't pretend to be surprised. This cover is arguably more iconic than the original! Rachel sang a lot of solos, but this one is just so beautifully executed that I can't help but get chills when she sings it.

Honourable mentions: "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" (and basically every other solo she sings, let's be honest.)

Finn Hudson: "Paradise by the Dashboard Light"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Okay, I know it's a group number, but HEAR ME OUT. Finn's vocals in this song are phenomenal — his range, depth, and emotions are all perfectly demonstrated in this upbeat song. Just listen to his high note at 3:10 and you'll agree with me.

Honourable mentions: "Jessie's Girl" and "I'll Stand By You"

Mercedes Jones: "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Mercedes KILLS this song. Her belt is crazy, her soul shines through, and the diva inside of her is evident. Even Rachel herself agrees that the song is unbeatable when she gives up her solo for Mercedes after the performance.

Honourable mentions: "Bust Your Windows" and "Colourblind"

Kurt Hummel: "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: We have never seen Kurt's heart as much as in this number, and I'm certain we don't deserve him, nor his sweet voice. This song is truly heart-wrenching and, despite how great his elaborate, upbeat routines are, this slowed-down cover is unbeatable.

Honourable mentions: "Not The Boy Next Door" and "Being Alive"

    Artie Abrams: "Stronger"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: There's no denying that Artie's covers of slower songs are beautiful, but it's in this song when we can see how smooth his voice really is. Tell me you didn't bop your head along to this cover and you'd be lying.

Honourable mentions: "Isn't She Lovely" and "P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing)"

    Tina Cohen-Chang: "Hung Up"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: I'm not the biggest Tina fan, but I have to admit: she absolutely nails the attitude behind this song. She does not hold back and hits every note like it's her job.

Honourable mentions: There's no competition for this one!

    Santana Lopez: "Back to Black"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: The control and depth in her voice sends chills down my spine EVERY TIME. The song is perfectly groovy yet has enough time for her to show off her range.

Honourable mentions: "Valerie" and "Girl On Fire"

Quinn Fabray: "Come See About Me"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Quinn does best with happy songs like these, that make you smile with every listen. She has such a sweet voice, and when complimented by Santana and Britney's backup vocals, it's a pretty hard one to beat.

Honourable mentions: "I Feel Pretty/Unpretty" and "Never Can Say Goodbye"

    Brittany Pierce: "My Cup"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: We're only sort of joking. This song is a masterpiece; it perfectly sums up Brittany's personality and is hilarious to listen to. Not to mention, her voice sounds pretty!

Honourable mentions: "My Cup" is the only winner. But "I'm A Slave 4 U" is also pretty great.

    Noah Puckerman: "Sweet Caroline"

Why it's the best: I LOVE THIS SONG, and Puck just makes it so fun. The happy vibe combined with his beautiful voice makes the cover so wonderful.

Honourable mentions: "Beth" and "Keep Holding On (Season 5)"

    Mike Chang: "Cool"

    Fox

Why it's the best: I've gotta be honest, Mike's voice surprised me in this song. Combined with his dancing, it's a tough act to follow.

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

    Blaine Anderson: "Cough Syrup"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Listen up: Blaine's voice is a gift, and this song not only makes me cry, but also gives me chills. He captures the emotion of the scene so well while showing off his impressive range.

Honourable mentions: "Teenage Dream", both the acoustic and regular versions

    Sam Evans: "Billionaire"

    Fox

Why it's the best: The song gave us the best introduction to Sam we could have ever asked for. So cute and sweet, we can't help but love him.

Honourable mentions: "Lucky" and "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"

Wade "Unique" Adams: "If I Were A Boy"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

    Honourable mention: "Chasing Pavements"

    Jake Puckerman: "My Prerogative"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: This cover is SO underrated. Jake has undeniable performance skills, and however much his sadder solos show off his voice, nothing will showcase his talents like a great groovy number will.

    Honourable mention: "Never Say Never"

    Ryder Lynn: "Everybody Hurts"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: The pain behind Ryder's voice is evident. I love how simplistic the instruments are so we can truly appreciate Ryder's vocals, and I love how open he is with his feelings in this song. Until now, we never got to see this side of his voice and character, and I'm here for it.

    Honourable mention: "Jukebox Hero"

Kitty Wilde: "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: I know it's a duet, but still — Kitty and Artie's beautiful take on this Beatles song deserves recognition. I love how pretty Kitty's voice sounds in this song, more than any other.

    Honourable mention: "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"

Roderick Meeks: "Take Me To Church"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Roderick's voice is so unique and this song really demonstrates that. I remember seeing this performance for the first time and just knowing that the New Directions were going to win.

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

    Madison McCarthy: "Chandelier"

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

    Myron Muskovitz: "Lose My Breath"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Ladies and gents, we've got a star in our midst. I was not expecting such an enthralling, elaborate performance, but let me just say, I LOVED it.

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

    Spencer Porter: "Uptown Funk"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: We needed more of Spencer's sweet yet equally powerful voice! This cover was, quite surprisingly, a BOP.

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

Will Schuester - "Don't Stand So Close To Me/Young Girl"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: It's been so many years, and this mashup still makes me LOL. I love how strong Will's voice is in this cover, and the story just makes it so much more enjoyable to watch.

Honourable mentions: "Dream On" and "Over The Rainbow"

    Emma Pillsbury: "Wedding Bell Blues"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Emma's voice is so pretty, and this song does a great job of showing her sweetness off, in both her character and voice.

Honourable mention: "Not Getting Married" (because I'm still shook at how fast she speaks in that song)

    Sue Sylvester: "Physical"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Sue AND Olivia Newton-John in one kick-ass, catchy song? Count me in.

    Honourable mention: "Super Bass"

    Sheldon Beiste: "Jolene"

    View this video on YouTube

Why it's the best: Beiste's cover is not only relatable, but also displays his inner thoughts in such a beautiful way — what can I say? He really killed this song.

    Honourable mentions: "Mean"

Shelby Corcoran: "I Dreamed A Dream"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Okay, real talk: Shelby's voice is phenomenal, and the songs she sings on Glee are all spellbinding. However, the chemistry and love behind this song specifically are worth noticing.

    Honourable mention: "Funny Girl"

    April Rhodes: "Alone"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

    Honourable mention: "Turning Tables"

    Cassandra July: "Americano/Dance Again"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: A genius mashup. I love how powerful her voice is — the song is super fun, but also displays her confidence.

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

    Jessie St. James: "Bohemian Rhapsody"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: It's the most intense song, complimenting Quinn's birth scene to create a masterpiece. Jessie pours his heart out in this rendition, and sorry, but it's no wonder Vocal Adrenaline won this competition.

Honourable mention: "Rolling in the Deep"

    Sunshine Corazon: "Listen"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Sunshine came out of nowhere, and was sent to a crackhouse way too soon. Her belt is SO amazing and the strength she has whilst performing this song is quite admirable.

    Honourable mentions: "Telephone"

    Sebastian Smythe: "Smooth Criminal"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: This is one of the best Glee songs EVER. The violins, the tension, the harmony, the voices! It's a duet, but it's the best Sebastian song by far, no question about that.

Honourable mentions: There's no competition here!

Rory Flanagan: "Take Care of Yourself"

    View this video on YouTube

    Fox

Why it's the best: Rory's soft voice is complimented by this sad song. His falsetto is beautiful and, as Rachel says in the middle of this performance, "he's magical."

Honourable mentions: Not enough to choose from!

    Joe Hart: "3"

    Fox

Why it's the best: Yes, it's a trio, but Joe's voice has never been so nice before. In this song, we see his belt, his ability to harmonize beautifully, and his perfect solo parts. This cover deserves an encore.
