Promising review: "I am a fitness fanatic and wanted something to stay in shape during the winter. I love hiking and walking, but living in the Northeast prevents me from enjoying the outdoors during the winter. This has provided me with an excellent opportunity to jog in place, walk in place, and jump to add some fun to it. I find it to be an excellent workout and place it in my living room while I'm watching TV. I haven't had to fold it yet as it is light enough to move around and may even fit in my closet to get it out of the way. I highly recommend this for all ages!" —Paula

Get it from Amazon for $69.99 (available in three colors).

This fits perfectly, and I like that you can easily take it with you. I love the lunchtime Zoom class and the prerecorded classes, but I also love just practicing and getting out all of my frustrations. Highly recommend this to anyone that likes boxing." —randi s

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I’m not going to lie, I didn’t have high hopes for this product after reading the other reviews. For that reason, I went with the standard punching bag in case it wouldn’t last long — being out of $50 is better than $90! But I really wanted to add this to my home gym for cardio days. I’m really glad I got this because holy hell this is a great workout! I’m still working on upper body strength, but my boyfriend also used this and he has a hell of a lot more strength than I do, and he loved it! He beat the crap out of it, which made me nervous after reading reviews that it doesn’t withstand heavy punches. To our surprise, it passed the test. Overall, it’s great for everyone regardless of strength. You’ll be dripping sweat after doing this! My boyfriend is 6’1” and I’m 5’4” and neither of us had an issue with the height of the punching bag." —Mary

Get it from Amazon for $57.30.

    4. A dumbbell set, a must-have for anyone who is trying to increase their strength because it comes with a set of 2-, 3-, and 5-pound weights so you can easily grab the next weight up when you realize that you're ready for more of a challenge.

And with more than 29,000 5-star reviews, this no-fuss, no-frills set is perfect for beginners who don't want to drop a huge chunk of change on weights.

Promising review: "I've recently started working out at home since I can't do much walking outdoors here in Wisconsin during the winter. Rather than getting a gym membership, I decided to invest in some workout equipment. I've owned these weights for only a couple of weeks, and I'm very happy with them! I've used them a number of times, and they work great. I feel the price is good for the quality, and I will look at ordering others in the future as I get stronger! If you are looking for some hand weights, I recommend buying these!" —Kristin B.

Get the set from Amazon for $34.99 (available in various weights and set combinations).

    5. Or just a dumbbell rack if you already own multiple sets of dumbbells but don't have a good way to store them. These are also great for anyone who's still working on their push-up game (it's okay, I am too) because they work just as well if you're on your knees.

    amazon.com

Promising review: "I really love these, which was surprising to me. I generally use rings, paralletes, and kettlebells for my workout, and I wasn't sure how effective these would be. I was happy to learn that these really hit your abs, chest, and arms. Doing push-ups with these I gave my biceps more of a workout than I anticipated. They also provide a nice chest workout (while I think dips on the rings is one of the best things, these worked well). These have managed to make their way into my regular rotation of exercises; that's really one of the highest compliments I can give this product. I highly recommend this product." —DDC

    9. An Obé fitness subscription to turn your living room (or bedroom or kitchen) into a group fitness class with live and on-demand classes that really ~pack a punch~.

    Abby Kass / BuzzFeed

Oh Obé, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. Seriously, I could go on all day about how much I love this fitness program, but I'll try and keep it as concise as possible. I've been using Obé for more than a two and a half years now, and I am still completely obsessed with it and think it is one of the greatest workout programs out there. Since I’ve never belonged to a gym while living in New York, I am a self-proclaimed master of working out at home. I started using Obé and then went back to my old at-home workout and switched back to Obé again because I realized I liked it so much. The classes are a great workout, yet the 28 minutes go by super fast, and I’m not counting down the minutes till it’s over. You don't technically need any equipment for the workout, but you can "level up" with simple equipment, such as a resistance loop, weights, and sliders.

The live classes are fun and give me a reason to get out of bed in the morning. And the instructors even give shoutouts to people in the class, and it's actually a pretty cool feeling when you hear your name. When I can’t make the live classes, there are SO many on-demand. Obé offers a ton of varieties of classes, including strength, HIIT, sculpt, yoga, barre, and dance. Plus, you can filter classes in the on-demand section, so you can select a low-impact class if you have neighbors to worry about.

Obé has me challenging myself and trying out new classes. I never would have thought I would enjoy a Dance HIIT or even a regular HIIT class, but now I do them regularly. And I even started taking strength classes in the past year and had to purchase heavier 8- and 10-pound weights, which past-me would be been so shocked about. It pushes me to be stronger and more confident and really has been such a good thing for me in the past year. I feel so strong because of Obé and really encourage anyone to give it a try.

Get a monthly subscription from Obé for $27/month, $65/quarter, or $199/year.

    10. A Stealth core trainer perfect for anyone who needs a little extra motivation to get a workout in. This genius tool is a video game balancing board where you use your abs to get high scores. How cool is that?!?

model on the triangular-shaped yellow board with black mats for arms and a phone in the middle
    Amazon

Don't forget to download the app before you get started so you can play the four free games!

BuzzFeed Shopping writer Mallory Mower says: "Getting a Stealth board was the very best thing that has happened to me during quarantine. Mixing the fun of games on your phone with the natural endorphins you get from exercising is, to put it lightly, genius. I have two in my home, and my husband and I compete daily to see who can last the longest. My favorite game is the paragliding challenge, he's into the planet-blasting space adventure. Nerd."

Get it from Amazon for $119.

    11. Or Ring Fit Adventure for Nintendo Switch, if you prefer to play video games. In this game, you explore a fantasy world and battle enemies, all while never leaving your living room.

    Amazon

BuzzFeed Shopping editor Heather Braga says: "This may seem like a childish adventure from Nintendo, but JEEZ within moments I'm sweating my butt off. To play, you'll place a JoyCon into both the ring con and a leg strap so your movements are monitored. To move through each level you have to physically run in place and each time you 'battle' an enemy you have to do 15 reps of an exercise of your choosing. For example, each time I complete a squat the enemy receives a 'kick.' It's so fun I don't realize I'm working out until the game reminds me to take a break and have some water. It even monitors your heart rate for you. It's more intense than you'd expect!"

Get it from Amazon for $54.99.

    12. A door anchor made to fit in any closed door to increase the possibilities of the exercises you can complete with a long resistance band. It's the perfect way to do lat pull-downs, seated rows, tricep push-downs, and more exercises without using a bulky weight.

    Bicah By Chloe

Bicah By Chloe is a woman-owned small biz specializing in creating useful and beautiful workout equipment! To use the door anchor, simply put the ball end between the door and the frame, loop a long band through, and close the door. You'll have an easy and secure piece of workout equipment ready for use.

BuzzFeed Editor Emma McAnaw holding a pair of white Powerbeats headphones in her hand
    Emma McAnaw / BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed Editor Emma McAnaw says: "These Beats headphones have been a real game-changer for me. The sound quality is so much better than my cheap headphones, which has actually really improved my experience at the gym. I find it easier to stay motivated now that my music is *crystal clear* (and I can't hear myself wheezing on the treadmill)."

Get them from Amazon for $179.99+ (available in six colors).

Read Emma's full review of Powerbeats headphones here (#4).

    14. Or some bone conduction headphones if you have trouble keeping earbuds in your ears while you work out. These are specifically designed to sit in front of your ears so you can hear your music *and* the surrounding noise while out on your morning run or hike.

model wears blue bone conduction headphones while running outdoors

Not only do these headphones have a six-hour battery life, but they are also water-resistant, also have quick control buttons, the ability to change between music and phone calls. Plus, you also get a USB-C charger, portable bag, and earplugs.

Promising review: "I always have problems finding earbuds that don't fall out of my ears when I run, so these are amazing since they don't go inside my ears at all! I barely feel them on my head, they don't jiggle or move at all when I run, sound quality is pretty good, and I'm glad that I can still hear ambient noise around me while wearing. Highly recommend!" —REI Customer

Get them from REI for $79.95 (available in three colors).

    15. A Kettle Gryp great for anyone who wants to try a kettlebell workout without having to commit to buying another piece of heavy equipment. This genius device wraps around a dumbbell to transform it into a kettlebell and make it super easy to hold onto.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I've recently gotten into kettlebell training, and I've been trying to find 15-lb kettlebells to purchase, but can't find them anywhere. I do have a complete set of dumbbells from 5 lbs up, and with the help of the Kettle Gryp, I can quickly turn the plain vanilla hex dumbbell into a kettlebell within seconds. I really love the versatility of this product and am delighted that I won't ever have to buy kettlebells ever again. These really maximize the utility of my already existing dumbbells and save me tons of money. They are also durable and easy to use. Thumbs up!" —Jonathan G. Smith

    16. A Booty Kicker because if you've been doing virtual barre classes for a while now, it's time to invest in some equipment to help you balance instead of your kitchen chair. Plus, it folds flat so you can keep it out of sight (and out of mind) when you're not in class.

    Amazon, amazon.com

And I can't forget to mention one of the coolest features: it has a dumbbell rack at the bottom that fits1-pound, 2-pound, and 3-pound weights. How cool is that?!?

Promising review: "I didn’t have a chair that’s the proper height so I decided to try this alternative. I like that it is stable enough to use during the workout, but still light enough to pick up and move out of the way when switching between barre and floor exercises. It is bulky, but it easily folds up. It still takes up space when folded, but can fit in a closet, under a bed or even behind our couch. Glad I ordered because I can properly do the workouts now." —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $99.99.

    17. Bala Bangles ankle weights to give your workout some ~weight~ and help you increase your resistance while staying comfortable and looking so good while doing it.

The black weights around a pair of ankles raised in the sky
    Amazon

Promising review: "Bala Bangles has truly reinvented wrist/ankle weights. I am actually not embarrassed to wear these in public. In fact, I people ask me all the time where I purchased these from. Bala is comfortable throughout the workout and actually intensifies it as well — I thought, 1 lb, no way will I truly be able to tell the difference... WRONG. I often have to take these off halfway into my class because it's that much more challenging. I also travel a ton for work and these are easily packable and great to utilize in my hotel room/gym if I can't make it to a workout class. This is now the second color I have purchased and could not be happier with the product. How someone did not think of this sooner I will never know... But I am glad because Bala Bangles did it right. They are worth every penny. I highly recommend this product to any and everyone." —Jules Lee

Get a set of two from Amazon for $49 (available in nine colors).

Plus, it comes with a resistance band to help get your obliques in the exercises and can hold up to 600 pounds.

Promising review: "This wheel has had a huge impact on me in just under a week of use. I have been rolling out on this wheel for fifteen reps in three sets every day since it has arrived and already I feel much stronger. I hesitate to say that I am starting to see results in such a short period of time, but I am confident that if I keep up the hard work the results will be obvious." —Ahmad

Get it from Amazon for $21.99.

    19. A Ubarre weight cleverly made to not look like a weight but super easy to grab and add some resistance to your workout. Plus, when you're done, you can disguise it as a piece of decor on a shelf. Genius!

Promising review: "I really enjoy my bike. I am new to spin (never did a class) but loved the idea of it. I knew I didn’t want to invest in an expensive bike without having the experience to know if I like this sport or not. I bought the bike and am hooked. It’s everything I need it to be. The size is fantastic, and I pull up a cycling class on YouTube, and it’s a great workout! I highly recommend it!" —Roshtomom

Get it from Amazon for $212.49.

    21. Treadly 2 Pro so you can get your steps in, no matter what the weather is like outside. The handrail on the machine can be raised or lowered, meaning you can walk, jog, or even run while staying in the same place. And when you're done, just slide it under your bed.

    Genevieve Scarano / BuzzFeed

BuzzFeed Shopping editor Genevieve Scarano loves this compact treadmill. She says: "I've been jogging almost daily on this treadmill, and it's been a big help when it's too cold outside and most gyms are closed due to COVID-19. You can walk or jog up to 5 mph, move the handrail up or down (and yes, this means you can walk on the treadmill even with the rail *all the way down on the floor* for workouts), *and* track your daily progress in the Treadly app. Walking and running on this treadmill feels the same as other treadmills I've tried in the past (minus 'the up to 5 mph' feature). What I love about that speed limit though is that it helps me focus on my form when I'm jogging or walking. I'm being mindful of each step and not rushing, so I really enjoy using it for workouts. It's 3.7 inches tall and weighs as little as 77 pounds, making it fairly easy to move around. With two front-support wheels and a folded handrail, it doesn't take too much effort to place it in a corner or stow it away under a piece of furniture, but moving it did require a little work, since I don't have much floor space between my bed and closet. I had to gently slide it out from under the bed, lift it up, and wheel it to the workout corner in my living room. It took me about three minutes, so not too bad!"

Get it from Treadly for $749+ (originally $849+; available in two styles).

Read Genevieve's full review of the Treadly 2 Pro here.

    22. A mat towel big enough to fit over your whole mat so your hands won't slip (knocking you out of concentration) while your hold downward dog during a yoga class.

    Anna Kopsky / BuzzFeed

Promising review: "I LOVE this yoga towel. It's thicker than some of my others, which I prefer. I think this is the reason it doesn't bunch up during my class. It stays perfectly smooth. I spray it with water before the start of class and, presto! It's perfect! I don't slip and I don't have to bother with the towel bunching up under my hands or feet. Also, great quality and beautiful colors. Held up great in the wash!" —Monkey's Mama

Get it from Amazon for $29.99+ (available in four colors).

And read one BuzzFeeder's full review of the YogaRat hot yoga towel here (#6)".

The p.ball is my favorite because it's so unique. I'm so happy with this purchase! I can't wait to add more equipment to my gym!!" —Kelly

    24. A running belt that'll hold your necessities so you can focus on breaking your personal record instead of keeping track of whether you've lost your keys.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I love this belt! It is super comfortable and sturdy. I bought the belt to hold my iPhone 8 Plus and keys while I run. The iPhone 8 Plus is a tight squeeze but fits even in its OtterBox case. I love the hook to snap my keys on so they stay in place and I don’t have to worry about them falling out. I did not even find the need to flip the belt as my phone and keys felt secure and I wanted easier access to my phone. It fits snugly on my hip and the belt did not bounce around on my run even with my heavy phone inside. All in all super happy with this purchase. Worth every penny!" —Elise V. Ryding

Get it from Amazon for $23.68+ (available in sizes XXS–XXL and in 13 colors).

It comes with a great set of options, but the connector that adapts this set into a long bar is a game changer. This was the only set I could find like it, and it is perfect. amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I've been using these sliders for almost a month now, and they are great. I have used them both barefoot and with shoes on with no issues. They work well on carpet, rugs, and tile. For the tile, I flip them over so the soft side is facing down, that way nothing gets scratched. So far they provide great results with my workouts, I use them almost every day. They seem so simple and easy, but they provide intense workouts when used properly." —Eric

Get them from Amazon for $9.95+ (available in five colors).

    27. A Crossrope jump rope set specifically designed with an interchangeable handle and ropes of different weights to take jump roping to ~new heights~. You can use the 1/2-lb and 1/4-lb ropes to target different exercises, including cardio and strength training.

Promising review: "The Crossrope set has transformed the way I jump. My previous $10 rope just can't cut it like the 1/4-pound, and my upper body loves the burn of that 1/2-pound. These ropes are sturdy, and the set is worth every penny so far. I freestyle jump three or four days per week for 20–35 minutes, and so far these hold up beautifully to the use." —Kristi K.

Get it from Crossrope for $99 (available in sizes S-XL).

    28. Or just a simple jump rope with a digital counter that's great for beginners who are looking for ways to ~switch~ up your cardio routine while also feeling like you're back in grade school having fun with your friends during recess.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "I love how this jump rope has both a timer and a counter. This allows me to jump for a fixed length of time without having to check my phone. I usually jump for two minutes every set, and when the time is up the timer will beep to let me know, and then I rest for another minute before beginning another set. Also, it is difficult to keep counting when I am too exhausted from jumping, and I'm glad that the rope counts for me, so I don't have to worry about it. Promising review: "At first, I was nervous to use these because I've never used resistance bands in my exercises. But after almost a month of having them, I get the most intense workout, especially since I'm at home all the time now. There are a lot of different strengths in the bands, but I mostly just use the heaviest one (Green). The best thing I use the most is the door stopper attachment. This lets me do a lot of overhead variations of exercises, which keep my heart rate up. Overall, I've been pretty happy with this purchase." —Eric Le

Feetup was founded by a yoga teacher in Germany in 2008 who wanted to create a tool to help people with inversions. It ensures that you have proper alignment while also being supported and comfortable while you work on poses such as headstands and more.

Promising review: "I bought this as gift for myself only a few days before Christmas and really didn’t expect to see it until the new year. It arrived in 3 days! It was easy to put together and only took a few minutes. I’m a seasoned yogi and RYT200 and wanted it to expand my inversions and home practice. What I didn’t expect was what a great tool/prop it is! There are classes on the app for all levels with a ton of different practices from balance, challenging and twists to yin and chair poses. I already found my muscles were sore in places I didn’t expect. Can’t wait to try out more classes! Oh, and the inversion is SO easy and takes the strain and pressure off your head and neck. I will be enjoying this tool as a new home practice and less in-studio classes." —Jynne

It's just a fun way to try new things and use muscles that you wouldn't be able to otherwise. I can't do pistol squats in real life, but I can with this thing! It's incredibly easy to use and to adjust." —Cersar

    Amazon

Promising review: "Wow. Just wow. I came here to write a review because I’m so so happy. I’ve been looking for a yoga mat that was long enough for me (I’m 6 ft barefoot ), a mat that wouldn’t slip if I got sweaty, and a mat that is durable and won’t shred easily like the previous mats that I have owned. The markings for alignment are a huge bonus, as I’ve been really delving into my daily practice and working on forming an alignment. This is a feature that I did not know I needed, and I am so grateful it exists. This mat is also a lot more beautiful texture-wise than it even looks in the picture. It’s also very comfortable. It's not too thin and not too thick! I am just so pleased, and I highly recommend this yoga mat. For the first time today, I did not spill off of my yoga mat during Savasana :) thanks for the quality and the happiness this mat has already brought me!!" —Reya
