Add a couple to your cart or subscribe so you'll always have these useful things around.

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, BuzzFeed may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI β€” prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication.

    1. A catnip-filled banana toy you might as well grab a ~bunch~ of asap, because once you introduce this amazing toy to your cat, there's no going back. Yes, your normally grumpy cat will have a toy they actually like because it smells amazing to them. I imagine it would be like if there was a human toy that smelled like cookies. Mmmmmm., Amazon

Promising review: "I purchased this toy randomly on a whim at a pet store in NYC several years ago to bring back home to my cats as a gift. Since then, I have bought at least five more of them from Amazon! All four of my cats go wild over this thing. The last time I brought them one after a trip again and when I came home, they were trying to dig into my duffel bag because they could smell it already lol. Get this toy, you won't regret it." β€”Ava

Get it from Amazon for $8.49 (available in four styles).

    2. A Paw Plunger paw cleaner, because the first signs of spring mean you finally won't freeze taking your pup outside, but it also means melting snow and mud, lots of mud β€” which of course your dog drags through your house. But with this handy mug, all you have to do is fill it with water, and the soft bristles inside will clean those paws in seconds.

reviewer pic of before, during, and after photo frames of a dog's paw being really dirty, then being put in the cleaning container, and then nice and clean after

Promising review: "This is a wonderful product! Our dog was getting mud on the carpet every morning even if we wiped her feet. Since we've used the Paw Plunger, we've had no more spots on the rug, and she doesn't mind having her paws dipped in. No issues with sharp plastic as others have mentioned. We will definitely buy this again!" –clark

Get it from Amazon for $17.98+ (available in three sizes and three colors).

    3. A urine stain remover made with an enzyme-activated formula that goes deep to remove stains *and* odors from any accidents that your puppy has (no matter their age) during your adventures in potty training.

Hand spraying a white bottle of the stain and order eliminator

Promising review: "I have used every single product including homemade recipes and nothing works as well as this. The smell is a little annoying. I hate black licorice, and that's what it smells like, but it dissipates quickly, and then there is NO odor. I used it on hardwood floors and vinyl plank flooring. I even used it on fabric. I could not be happier and will definitely be buying again and again." β€”Fancy Pants

Get it from Amazon for $19.96 (or Subscribe & Save for $18.97/every three months).

    4. Or some Bissell Stomp 'N Go pads reviewers swear are super easy to use because as the name says, all you have to do is "stomp and go." The pad will basically work magic on the stain so you won't even know where your pet had their accident anymore.

Plus, not only do these work on pet stains, but they're also great at removing wine, soda, or any other stains the rest of the family gets on your nice rug. Trust me, you're going to want to have these on hand at all times.

Promising review: "OMG I am SO HAPPY that they are making these again. They are the absolute best. Nothing comes close! I even called and wrote to Bissell twice when they discontinued this item asking them to bring it back. Then I bought all I could find. Now they are back! I have an older dog who sometimes has accidents and NOTHING works as well and as easily as these. Some people say they are small, but I say they are perfect! In fact, because they are relatively expensive, I cut these into small pieces and use just what I need. If you rub the pad into the carpet, it will completely remove the stain. Stomp on it and leave it there. The stain will be gone. I seal the bag with a bulldog clip to keep the remaining pad moist." β€”kscoco

    5. An ear treatment made for both dogs and cats to clear (and prevent) inflammation and irritation caused by a fungal or bacterial infection. Reviewers (more than 28,000 of them) rave about how this product has brought relief to their furry friend without an expensive trip to the vet.

Reviewer's before and after showing the treatment cleared all the brown crustiness from their dog's ears

Promising review: "I have an English Springer Spaniel with sensitive ears. I used to take my dog to the vet semi-regularly for ear infections. The vet would prescribe overpriced antibiotics and away I would go. The ear infection would go away after a week or so, and I would finish the antibiotic routine only to have the ear infection show up again in a month. I decided to give this stuff a try several years ago and have since bought at least five bottles because it WORKS!! While Otto does still get ear infections occasionally, they aren't nearly as bad because as soon as I catch them, I put this stuff to work. It knocks the crud out of his ears within a day or two and that's it! I only use it when I notice him scratching his ears more than usual so a bottle lasts a long time. This Zymox gel is pretty expensive, but it is by far the best thing that I have found for my dog's ears. Read the directions before using. You aren't supposed to clean the ears before applying this stuff, which at first I thought couldn't be right, but do it as the directions say, and you will be happily surprised." β€”Josh

Get it from Amazon for $21.99.

    6. A bag of Greenies Pill Pockets designed with holes in the middle to fit multiple pills (some reviewers fit up to three), so you can get your pup to take their medicine without the hassle of trying to disguise it in peanut butter or cheese, only for them to spit the pills out instantly (keeping the treat, of course).

Reviewer photo of their pills and a pill pocket in their hand, showing how it can fit multiple pills

Promising review: "My senior dog gets four to five pills and supplements every night. These are big enough to fit three capsules in each one. I just squish the pockets around the capsules and he takes them without hesitation. I follow it up with one of his favorite treats, so he doesn't waste time getting it down! I have bought several bags and would buy again for pills." β€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $7.58.

    7. A Zesty Paws allergy supplement your pup may think are just tasty treats, when in fact they're filled with probiotics and other nutrients that can help improve their digestion, promote healthy skin, add shine to their coats, and improve their immunity.,

Owners who have dogs with skin conditions swear by this supplement to give their pup some relief.

Promising review: "I purchased these due to my Lab having skin allergies along with digestive issues. Both dogs look forward to having their daily 'treat,' and my lab hasn't had skin or digestive issues since taking. I bought them again!" β€”L. H.

Get them from Amazon for $25.96 (or Subscribe & Save for $23.36/every two months).

    8. Or some Nylabone toys specifically made to stand up against even the most aggressive chewer. Yes, reviewers do say that these last a while, but they don't last forever, and you'll always want to have one nearby for your pup.,

Promising review: "Both of my large dogs really enjoy this chew toy. I bought more than one and will certainly purchase again! They last quite a long time, which is great!" β€”Jennifer

Get two (one chicken and one bacon flavor) from Amazon for $19.99 (also available individually).

    9. Some rice pop chew treats made of corn and rice because your small pets (i.e. guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, mice, rats, and bunnies) deserve a little treat every once in a while, and they'll love the crunch and flavor of these.

Promising review: "My bunnies loved this! I bought these when I first got the bunnies, and I wanted to get them again but never found them again then I bought them here and they came in one day. I also love watching my bunnies eat and chew these because of the crunchy noise. It's so cute. I definitely recommend!" β€”Sorie a.

Get it from Amazon for $1.99.

    10. A stuffingless dog toy with two squeakers in it and a Velcro pouch you can add a water bottle to for some extra crunch. With all these features it's no surprise that so many pups are OBSESSED with this toy (I mean, look at the smile on the pup below!).

reviewer pic of a happy dog holding a duck toy between their paws

You'll want to have a backup for that inevitable day when their fave toy is lost or chewed beyond repair and you want to surprise them with a brand new one.

Promising review: "This is my dog’s absolute favorite new toy. He goes totally nuts for it, and it keeps him happy for hours. It’s super durable but soft and safe too. I would 100 percent buy again." β€”Chelsea

Get it from Amazon for $5.65+ (available in three sizes, 14 animals, and single- and multi-packs).

    11. A Natural Dog Company snout soother that's basically the equivalent of lip balm for dogs (it's even shaped the same!), but instead of lips, it works to add moisture to dry, cracked, or chapped noses. ~Snout's~ honor this works., Amazon

Promising review: "This is a great product! It's my second time using snout butter! I bought this same product many years ago for an old dog that had a dry nose, and within 24 hours of use, his nose was so much moister! Then bought this product again for a current dog with the same issue and again super impressed! The only bad part dogs love to lick it off! So you have to try your best to rub the product in to their skin before they lick it all off!" β€”Stefanie

Get it from Amazon for $7.95.

    12. A waterless dry shampoo for your cat who HAAATES water with a burning passion. This spray will ensure that they still clean (and smell good) without having to put them into the bath. You'll both be so thankful for this.,

Promising review: "This is the first review I’ve written that I can think of, and I have to say I love this product. I did a ton of research to find a shampoo for my cat who has thick fur, sheds all the time, and in the summer her fur mattes. On every website, this was a product that was either #1 or top 5. It’s waterless, which is great since water makes her fur matte more. When I brush it through her fur, it picks up so much hair and leaves her smelling so good and so soft. She doesn’t like feeling wet, so it’s a bit of a hassle to wash her, but compared to an actual bath, this is a great alternative. We haven’t had to shave her yet thanks to this product. I highly recommend it, and I’m buying it again for sure." β€”Jocelyn

Get it from Amazon for $7.49.

    13. A Pet House Candle because even if you love them dearly, your pets can still make some of the worst odors ever, and nobody should have to live with that. This candle is specifically designed to tackle those smells, so you'll want to stock up on a couple of the scents.

reviewer pic of their pup lying on the ground with the clear glass candle between their paws

Promising review: "No buyer's remorse here! I will buy this candle again and again and again... OMG! Love! I bought the Lilac Garden, wow, it smells amazing!! I bought due to us living in our RV after selling our home and waiting for weather to allow us to move up north. We have a few dogs in this small space, ugh, by golly, you walk in the door now and smell fresh cut Lilac, candle style. Most defiantly will order again. I would gift it to a friend so sure β€” that's if I don't keep it for myself instead lol!" β€”2XArmyDrills

Get it from Amazon for $22.49 (available in 26 scents).

And read one BuzzFeed editor's full Pet House Candle review here.

    14. Or a Pet House room-freshening spray for anyone who is not a candle person (yes, they do exist) but still wants the odor-eliminating benefits and fragrance. Reviewers say this spray doesn't have an overpowering scent, so you won't mind having it in your home.

Promising review: "I purchased to use in the litter box area and love that it is safe to use around the little darling. It works but is not overpowering and the lavender scent is my favorite. I will definitely be ordering again!" β€”Dave Johnson

Get it from Amazon for $9.99 (available in six scents).

    15. A medicated dog shampoo formulated with a pH balance to help any dog suffering from a wide variety of skin issues be more comfortable. Rashes, bald spots, dry skin, or an inflamed scalp are no match for this shampoo.

For best results, use the shampoo two to three times a week at first, and then decrease use as skin improves.

Promising review: "This is a great product!! It's saved me a lot of money by not having to take my dogs to the vet. I have to wash them frequently or they break out with their allergies. It's very economical compared to paying $40 for the vet to give one of my dogs shots. The only thing that I don't like is the tar smell, but I can deal with it. I have bought this product again and will continue to do so." β€”Andy

Get it from Amazon for $8.96.

    16. Some hip and joint soft chews great for your senior pup who isn't moving as fast as they used to. This supplement can help with any hip issues or arthritis so they can continue to live the life they love (which def includes walks).

reviewer holding the container of hip and join soft chews

Promising review: "My 8-year-old dog started limping and whining one day. The vet examined her and determined she probably has some arthritis in her knee. We restricted her exercise (no stairs, no long walks) and started giving her these. We started with two per day. It's been about a month, and she's moving just fine now. She seems to love the taste; she gets excited every time I pull the package down from the shelf. We give her one pill per day now for maintenance. I'll definitely buy these again!" β€”D

Get it from Amazon for $9.99.

    17. A bone teething ring to help relieve teething pain and soreness your puppy is probably experiencing and can only communicate by biting anything and everything around them (including your hands and feet). Plus, it has calcium and omega-3 fatty acids for strong teeth and bones.

Reviewer's puppy chewing on a bone that is shaped like a circle

Promising review: "While I can’t personally vouch for the flavor, my puppy sure can! He is obsessed with these things! I love that it takes him a while (he’s a 12-week-old Lab/Aussie mix) to finish, and it’s just the right consistency to be edible but hard enough to satisfy those urges to chew! This value for the price is amazing, and I will be buying again." β€”Dylann

Get a pack of three from Amazon for $3.75 (or Subscribe & Save for $3.56/month).

    18. A tube of Petrodex dog toothpaste flavored like poultry so your dog is actually interested in having you shove a toothbrush in their mouth. Yes, it's not the most pleasant experience, but it will make it a bit easier to work to remove the plaque and buildup in their mouth.

reviewer pic of their dog's teeth before and after using the toothpaste

Promising review: "My dog loves this stuff. I recently noticed some build up on my dog's teeth, and I was worried she wouldn't take well to daily tooth brushing. She really likes this stuff, and it makes it so much easier to brush her teeth. I will say that it does smell, but I think it's just the normal product odor. I will definitely buy again." β€”RachelO.

Get it from Amazon for $8.77 (or Subscribe & Save for $8.33/every three months).

    19. An eye wash to remove any crustiness and goop from the corner of your pet's eyes. Reviewers say this works great for any pet who gets eye infections.

Promising review: "Oscar gets really bad infections around his right eye; it causes his whole area to get red and crusted up. We tried this, and it worked great! Even after the first use we could see a big difference. I don't use it as directed, maybe once a day but it still works great. I will absolutely buy it again. P.S. forgive the before pic (left); he was helping me size baby hats I was making. No cats were tortured; he just acts like he was." β€”April Mcleod

Get it from Amazon for $12.49.

    20. A pack of Nature's Miracle deodorizing bath wipes great for giving your pup a quick rinse when you don't want to give them a full-blown bath. The wipe will remove odor, as well as dirt and dander, meaning your pup can play as much as they want outside, and you'll have them clean in only a couple of minutes.

Reviewer's photo of them cleaning their brown dog with a wipe

Promising review: "I buy these wipes again and again! We live in a rainy, muddy state. We also have an active dog that loves to play outside. It's not a great combo for someone that likes their house neat and has ivory carpeting in their home. Before, we were giving our dog full-blown baths whenever she got muddy. It was stressful, time-consuming, and just not worth the effort anymore. We always had these wipes on hand for when our pup would start to get a little bit doggy smelling, but decided to try them instead of a bath after she got home from playing in the mud. They work, beautifully. The Honey Sage leaves a nice, mild scent that eliminates the doggy odor for some time. We have also been able to hold off on full-blown baths because these do such a nice job when paired with a nice, deep, thorough brushing. I've bought them numerous times now and will continue to do so, so long as the price is right! I highly recommend them!" β€”Ann

Get a pack of 25 from Amazon for $5.95 (available in two scents).

    21. Some Wild One poop bags that are not only eco-friendly but also super easy to open. You won't know how important this fact is until you have to take your mittens off in -3 degree weather as you struggle to open a darn poop bag for what feels like hours. If you're like me and have experienced this, these poop bags are your answer.

three roll of peach poop bags
    Wild One

I know that the price of these poop bags might seem a little ridiculous, but trust me, they are worth it. My fam lives in a condo, so we are basically poop-bag experts because we use them a couple of times a day. And these are by far the best poop bags we've ever used. They seriously open so easily, which is amazing in cold weather. Plus, they're made out of corn, so they're eco-friendly. Seriously, I never thought I would be passionate about poop bags, and yet here I am. We've bought these again and again and will continue to do so in the future.

Promising review: "These poop bags were great quality. The bag itself is much thicker and more sturdy than brands I've used in the past. I hate when poop bags are thin and rip, causing me to use several bags before finding a suitable one. The Wild One poop bags did not have that problem and fit in my Wild One poop bag carrier, but also other carriers as well. I love that they are eco-friendly! I will continue to keep purchasing these. :)" β€”Tom

    22. Or some lavender-scented ones that are leakproof and made to hold a large load. Sorry, that isn't the best image to put in your head, I know, but it is important if you have a dog you like to take on walks.

reviewer holding the roll of green poop bags in their hand

Promising review: "I leave a roll of these in a little vanity by my front door, tear two off for the walk, and the dog and I head on our way. My dog is a 75 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback and drops a decent amount, but these bags give you plenty of surface area to work with. This was a repurchase for me & I will do so again." β€”Joel Fahey

Get them from Amazon for $6.99+ (available in scented and unscented, and two case sizes, or Subscribe and Save for $6.64+/every three months).

    23. An olive oil based paw balm made with a mix of oatmeal (reviewers swear it smells like cookies), shea butter, olive oil, aloe vera, and coconut oil, as well as vitamins E and F to soothe your pet's dry and cracked paws. Plus, it's pH-balanced, which just means that it's safe for your pet to ingest because they will def try to lick it when you apply it.

Promising review: "This smells amazing, like cookies. My dogs seem to enjoy getting this paw butter. They do lick a bit of it off, but most of it stays in place pretty well and is helping with dried cracked paw pads on my three mastiffs. Its solid in jar but almost melts into their paws when applied β€” I'll definitely be buying again." β€”Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $7.99.

    24. And a subscription to BarkBox so your furry friend gets a surprise in the mail every month, with toys and treats that will delight them (and keep them occupied for a little bit).

    Abby Kass / BuzzFeed

My mom signed Izzy up for BarkBox the day we brought her home, and we're obsessed. Each month you get a themed box filled with toys, treats, and a chew. Everything is SO adorable. The first box we got was fall-themed and had the super cute "Puppy Spiced Latte" you can see Izzy chewing on above, plus another toy, two bags of treats, and a chew. The second box was Halloween-themed and just as adorable. Not only is everything inside appealing for humans, but Izzy loves it too. She plays with the toys she got all the time. She even had fun putting her noise in the box to "discover" what toys she got this month. My mom selected the regular BarkBox, but there's also a Super Chewer option if your dog is a little rougher on their toys. Overall, it's a small treat that's a lot of fun and something to look forward to every month.

Promising review: "I've been a subscriber for years. They offer a great amount of flexibility and care. They offer some customization to your dog (or dogs if they share a box) that suits what they like. In the past when there were fires in the area they gave us a free box. Since we weren't affected they were even willing to donate it to the shelter of our choice. Any questions you have they get back to you within a day." β€”Nick D.
