So what’s your story?

1. The Atlantic interviewed people all over America to find out how small talk differs based on geography. It really gives insight into what certain regions value throughout the States.

2. Folks in the South like to find out more about family, asking, “Hey, how’s your Mama and them?” or even, “Who’s your mama?”

3. In Washington, D.C., people tend to ask work-related questions. Namely, “Where do you work and what is your job?”

4. In New York, though, people ask “Where do you live?” to determine socioeconomic status.

5. And in Texas they start a conversation by asking which church the other belongs to in order to learn what they believe.
