14 Reasons Moms Should be Exempt from New Years Resolutions

We already are acting like Mary Poppins 24/7

    1. We became uncertified homeschool teachers and learned “Zoom” was a website. Not just a sound our kids make playing toy cars.

    2. We “worked” from home, as if being the teacher, camp counselor, chef, and maid weren’t enough.

    3. We stole snacks from our kids as we tried to ration food. That damn limit per customer on cereal and milk… NOT COOL, Kroger.

    4. We became professional day-drinkers. Yes, that WAS wine in my coffee cup during the “Zoom” meetings, thank you VERY MUCH.

    5. We got dirty stares from neighbors when our kid’s bike tire touched their driveway. Like, damn, Gina - I’m TRYIN’.

    6. We shared intimate mommy potty break moments with our children. It was like the damn zoo. But, you know what “they” say… the more the merrier… WTF.

    7. We took care of a larger child and made sure he was fed too. They call that species, husbands.

    8. We learned the art of extended bath time. I think my kids ate dinner in the bathtub one night… Hey, confinement is key.

    9. We also learned that pants are overrated. Less clothes = less laundry.

    10. We became professional drive by party planners, cause they TOTALLY needed more toys.

    11. We hoarded all the mac and cheese, toilet paper, and goldfish we could find at the grocery store… And then hid that shit so it wasn’t gone in a day.

    12. We embraced inflated prices on Amazon if it meant a temporary “waterpark” in the backyard. Sure, $80 for a pool?

    13. We became short-order cooks at the non-stop diner called the kitchen.

    14. We are just …. So…. tired.

In all seriousness, cut yourself some slack mamas, add some patience and a cherry on top… And if you’re going to commit to anything in 2021, commit to acceptance. Commit to accepting yourself simply as you are for 365 days. Because despite the highs and lows in motherhood, YOU ARE ENOUGH. YOU are doing a fantastic job. Now go accept the shit out of yourself. Every. Single. Day. Cheers, Mamas!
