White House Calls NRA Ad Featuring Obama Daughters “Repugnant And Cowardly”
A sharp response as a gun control battle brews.
WASHINGTON — White House officials blasted the National Rifle Association Wednesday for a new ad that calls Obama a hypocrite for advocating gun control legislation while his daughters are protected by armed Secret Service agents.
“Most Americans agree that a president’s children should not be used as pawns in a political fight,” White House Press Secretary Jay Carney in response to the ad. “But to go so far as to make the safety of the president’s children the subject of an attack ad is repugnant and cowardly.”

garyf8 4 months agoAnything that gets the libs panties in a bunch I’m all for. Whining and moaning about the NRA using Obama’s children as political pawns while at the same time ignoring Obama’s trotting out of children to make his own political point, is a new level of hypocrisy only surpassed by the same libs that tell us our kids don’t deserve armed protection while those same elitist snobs send their kids to schools that have armed guards.

abrahamc3 4 months agoActually those and many other children specifically wrote to the POTUS asking for stricter gun control laws. He chose a few of them to come to the White House to show that he read their letters and agreed with thier message. They were not trotted out for a political agenda, they were rewarded for taking part in a government that they have little to no say in.

WhatTheHolyHeck 4 months agoHey, guess what? I don’t need assault weapons because I’m a private citizen. The President’s family is a freaking TARGET, and they need security. How freaking disingenuous and stupid.

GeorgeKaplan 4 months agoJust playing Devil’s advocate here… but I don’t think the children at Sandyhook thought they were targets either.

WhatTheHolyHeck 4 months agoI don’t disagree, but that’s not really the same argument. I’m in favor of gun control overall. I think that official military/police uses are exceptions; guns for private citizens - like the woman whose son appropriated her stash to kill all those innocent people in Connecticut - need to go away.

evilito 4 months agoGeorge, the difference is pretty stark: Presidents have threats made on their lives daily. The threats on Obama’s life are exponentially larger than those made against any recent president (a basic Google search will confirm this). It’s obvious why the president of the USA and his family need Secret Service protection. While Sandyhook and other school massacres are obviously enormous tragedies, the circumstances are totally different.

dman2kn1 4 months agoWhatTheHolyHeck, please reference the Bill of Rights, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” The right to bear arms is guaranteed by the second amendment to the United States Constitution. Thanks for playing.
