Romney in Bayamon last week.
VERNON HILLS, Ill. — Mitt Romney rejected the notion that latino voters will not vote for a Republican presidential candidate, pointing to his victory in Puerto Rico.
“Those people that don’t think Latinos will vote for Republicans, need to take a look at Puerto Rico,” Romney said at a town hall in parks department gymnasium, referencing his performance there and the territory’s conservative governor. “Hispanic voters are going to vote for Republicans if we stand for conservative principles.”
“I intend to become our nominee, and I intend to get Latinos to vote for a Republican and take back the White House,” he added.

Two minor points of contention. 1. He won a majority of Latino voters in a territory that is 90% Hispanic. What a triumph. 2. I’d say it’s a pretty good bet that the overwhelming winner was going to be whichever politician didn’t get off the plane and say something to the effect of “Hey you lazy brown skins, you won’t be real Americans until you speak God’s English instead of your native mumbo jumbo.”
