Mitt Romney's campaign is escalating its charges against the Obama White House that over the "war on women," saying that the overwhelming number of jobs lost since Obama took office were held by women.
"The number of unemployed women has increased by nearly a million under Barack Obama," Romney surrogate Bay Buchanan said on a conference call with reporters. "92 percent of the jobs lost since he took office are women."
"You want to talk about the real war on women... go right over and talk to the White House," she added.
According to the Romney campaign, the 92 percent figure was reached by examining the net jobs lost under Obama (-740,000) and the decline in the number of women who are employed (-683,000).
