LAKELAND, Florida — Mitt Romney debuted his new, more personal stump speech on Friday, twelve hours after formally accepting the Republican nomination for the presidency.
Stressing accountability, Romney continued his effort to bill himself as a humble servant who can bring competence to the White House.
"I want to make sure that any person in this country that wants a job can find one," Romney said, as the crowd of 2,000 cheered and waved American flags.
Later he sheepishly said he was a little uncomfortable after all the speeches last night attesting to his character in both the religious and professional spheres.
"I was embarrassed from time to time with the nice things that were said about me," he said. "Some people were overly generous, but I appreciated it."
Romney was joined by his wife Ann, and Paul and Janna Ryan, and flanked by their two brand new jets emblazoned with the campaign logo as the pair gear up for the fall campaign.
Ryan repeated his acclaimed line from Wednesday night about "faded Obama poster," which appears to have found a permanent place in his stump speech.
"We love this country and we're taking it back!" Romney shouted, before jumping to shake hands along the rope-line.
