The Progressive Change Campaign Committee emails supporters to “help us make emergency arrangements and literally keep the lights on in our headquarters.” They’d like a generator.
@fredomclfy didn’t say Romney is not always campaigning. Of course he is. So is Obama. They are running for Prez of U.S. Point is Romney’s campaign isn’t directly helped by donating a bus to NYC with relief supplies. Romney isn’t winning NY or any NE state, save maybe NH. I doubt the media is going to highlight the Romney bus. BUT regardless AGAIN… these supplies directly help people and take resources FROM the Romney campaign. The money to the prog group goes only to help candidate that have big war chests already AND also in areas where the very people they are trying to get to vote are in peril. They seem to care more about their vote than there safety. It’s a lot more callous approach. Consider this: if the above letter had a Romney or Romney supported group on the letterhead. You’d then abhor it. So would I. That’s the difference.
Mitt Romney is hosting “relief events” for the storm…in Ohio. Ohio. Swing state that he needs to win the presidency. Campaigning on goodwill is still campaigning. It is well worth “losing resources” in exchange for letting everyone know “look, I am a real live human after all!” + garnering their votes. More branding as usual. Not impressed. As for this group’s e-mail, it is all about keeping their efforts in motion, but I don’t mind it because they are working to prevent an even longer-lasting crisis from occurring: Mitt Romney getting into the White House. Onward! Upward!
Compare and Constrast: Romney campaign donates one of its buses to the NE filled with emergency supplies for those in need. This “progressive” group begs for cash, not to help victims, but to promote itself and the candidates it supports. You really get who a person or organization is during emergencies like this one. The particular “progressive” group is a bunch of pathetic & selfish twits.
Romney’s efforts help actual people & campaign loses a bus that could be used for campaigning to get vote out. Also Romney is not playing up the fact they donated a bus & supplies. Few will hear about it & doubt its going to swing votes in the NE. Prog group’s efforts help no one other than itself. Warren has loads of cash as do most of the other “prog” candidates in tight races. Spin it anyway you like but bottom line. Both may be looking for votes but only Romney’s actions directly help people, regardless of how they’ll vote, or if.
Romney is never not campaigning + you are a fool if you think otherwise. He didn’t think it would get out when he is constantly covered by the media? Also, how could folks in these regions NOT know it was done by Romney, if it’s a bus with Romney Insignia all over it? Think.
