Disappointing Turnout For Santorum In Phoenix

Crowd size doesn't match poll support.

PHOENIX, Arizona—Hours after a CNN/Time/ORC poll put him in a statistical tie with Mitt Romney in Arizona, Rick Santorum drew a disappointing crowd at the El Zaribah Shrine here.

Santorum's campaign rented the Auditorium, which seats 1500 people, but only brought in at most 250 supporters. The lackluster turnout is a sign that while he is rising as the anti-Romney candidate, Santorum's organization isn't yet ready for primetime.

Campaign staff declined to comment on the turnout.
