After Obama Victory, A Petition For States To Secede On The White House Website
At 25,000 signatures, the White House says it will respond. Potheads and UFO truthers displaced by secessionists.
More than a dozen petitions sprung up on the White House petitions website “We The People” this weekend asking for various states to be allowed to secede from the United States after President Barack Obama won reelection.
The Texas petition was the first, and most detailed, listing complaints such as the Transportation Security Administration and the National Defense Authorization Act, which petitioners called “blatant abuses” of their rights.
According to the White House website, if any petition garners 25,000 signatories, the administration will respond. Previous petitions have asked the U.S. government to acknowledge the existence of extraterrestrials and to reveal the White House beer recipe, along with countless others dealing with the legalization of marijuana.

tomc6 6 months agoCurrently there are petitions up for 40 states; 6 states which went to Romney have met the 25K signatures required to get a reply and Florida did as well. Those states are: Texas, which according to this site - http://www.economist.com/blogs/dailychart/2011/08/americas-fiscal-union has paid 34% more in federal taxes than it has had come in from federal spending over a 20 year period starting in 1990. Georgia,another of the 6 states also has had a net surplus in taxes paid versus federal spending. Their neighboring states, North Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana and Alabama have had net deficits between federal taxes and federal spending. Somehow, I’m doubting Texas and Georgia are going to subsidize y’all once you secede.

stevenl12 6 months agoI would love to sign this petition. Where and how can I do it. That branch of Episcopal Church, successfully broke away and joined the Ugandan church in Africa. Now they are able to practice “Ultimate” discrimination, condemnation and crucifixion, there. Perhaps these states could successfully do the same, given the similar ideologies they share. It’s very important that they do it NOW. They may never get another chance, as the younger generation there are getting older and more educated, and he older, less tolerant, and ignorant are dying off.

brandonr4 6 months agoI’m not on the succession band wagon, but what’s wrong with people expressing how they feel about the way they see the government heading? Is it not the same as protesting in front of the White House or the Capitol? Also, is the only valid argument against them that they are all “racist rednecks?” Just wondering.

lindaralphw 6 months agoStates did petition to sucede when Bush won the election in 2004. Looks like you need to check the facts before posting something this stupid.. Lincoln freed slaves Lincoln was republican. It was the Democrats that felt that Blacks should not bote , carry firearms etc. Democrats have never been the friend of the African Americans. BTW there were many Wonderful African American founding fathers. We owe them a great deal, including having their stories told.

Only Texas can legally secede. It was part of the statehood agreement. And no, not all southerners are racist, close minded, rednecks.

sakowitzk -learn your history, The Republic of Texas entered the Union as a Separate nation and thus required a Treaty. All other states (other than the original colonies) were territories. In that Treaty, Texas can secede,or if it chooses it can break into 5 separate states (thus giving those states 8 additional senators).
