The info on this graph is skewed. The conglomerate brewery’s (Coors, Miller) have categories created for them so that the carbonated piss they call beer has a chance at winning a medal. I’m surprised they show their faces at GABF.

@Blue @Horace Once you get past those first three big companies winning awards in categories like “Large Brewing Company Brewer of the Year”, there's a long tail of lots and lots of small breweries winning awards for good beer . Wisconsin gets a major boost from big breweries, but New Glarus is on those top breweries graphs too, and there's nothing big and crappy about them.

I agree with Horace. Look at the crappy beer companies and products represented here - just because they give themselves awards doesn't make the beer taste better. I think Oregon would be kicking serious ass if this were truly rating best beers.

Anheuser Busch and Miller are the top breweries? This map is fundamentally flawed.

I love this map. However, it would be hard to convince me something so old could be classified as “buzz.” I blogged about this more than two months ago.
