I think that particular one is my biggest pet peeve.
I agree 100% on “this whole thing came about because you were publicly embarrassed and butthurt.” It seems like these people aren’t made about being corrected, they’re mad about being corrected in public. That’s why they say things like, “Correct grammar is not an accurate way to measure someone’s intelligence.” They want to be seen as intelligent, so it embarrasses them that people point out their poor grammar. In the end, they just look less intelligent for trying to argue in favor of poor grammar. Just say, “Oh, I’m sorry. My mistake” and move on (and hopefully learn something in the process). It will make you look less likeachild.
It isameasure of intelligence. We have been taught the difference between “your” and “you’re” since elementary school. If you get to be an adult who still doesn’t get it, then I’m sorry, but you’re an idiot.
