Inspired by the versatility and social impact of Emojis, EMOJI IRL. LOL., AKA Designer and Photographer Liza Nelson created this series of designs to bring her favorites to life.
She was amazed at how quickly they have taken over the world and changed the way we communicate. "This instant communication with an image isn't going away."
Part of this project was wanting to see these "characters" in real life - she cast her friends as emojis that represent them in her own mind
"Emojis mean everything and they mean nothing at the same time. They're completely personal and completely universal."
She expects everyone to have their favorites and least favorites, and thinks that's perfectly alright.
"I thought they were this amazing universal language that everyone across the board - across the world - has started to relate to."
