She recently spoke to to E! News about the whole ordeal:
“I was surprised by what he said. I believe in freedom of speech, but I do think it’s dangerous…I immediately thought of the teenager who’s struggling with his sexuality and hearing those comments that are so damaging and hurtful.”
Gold says she has spoken to Cameron since she’s openly spoken out against his fateful appearance, saying, “I wanted him to know that I wasn’t fighting with him … I was wanting my voice and opinion to be heard.”

TM a year agoIt’s incredibly ignorant and hypocritical to claim that Kirk’s comments of his own personal viewpoint of morality to be considered “hate speech”. Would you prefer a society in which there isn’t a forum for debate? Beyond that, why would you respond to “hate speech” with personal attacks? Is that not just another form of hate speech? Come’on Buzzfeed.

jeremyw8 a year agoThis guy had a solid shot at living what he believes to be right and being respected. I really don’t understand why anyone feels they have to go around telling other people what to change about themselves. Jesus never did that unless somebody asked him to change them. Blah.

maybe I missed part of what he said, but I don’t remember any of being hateful. I adamantly disagree with his comments but I specifically took notice that even in vocalizing thoughts, which I personally found to be ignorant, he seemed to be rather respectful. it sucks that his christian philosophy does not include love and acceptance for everyone, but it rarely does. Kind of a loss for him really, but if we are fair, we have to support his religious beliefs, even if they make him a bit of a dumbass.

timp14 a year agoWhy is it that when something does not go with the “normal” point-of-view it is automatically dismissed as “hate” speech. If you actually saw the rest of what he had to say, you’d know that his issue is not with the people themselves, but rather the very lifestyle. Just because you don’t like what he said, doesn’t make it “hate” speech.

I love how a picture of the cast when Tracey Gold was just beginning to suffer from eating disorders and Kirk Cameron was just starting to learn that he could use his heartthrob status to be an utter uber-religious tool on set is labeled “Happier times”.
