If gays can love, can’t anyone, without fear of persecution?” The world would be a scary place if anyone could love anyone without fear of persecution (ex. pedophilia)  I 100% support gay marriage but this post raises the question of where do we draw the line? Things like gay marriage, polygamy, incest, pedophilia, etc are typically illegal because they are considered “wrong” on a moral stand point. But morality being as subjective as it is, when do we say gay marriage is okay but incest is not? or cousins can marry, but siblings cant?

looking at history with the royal line, they were all some type of crazy or mentally retarded in some way. mainly because they allowed cousins and relatives to marry(its in the history books kids) its not the same as gay marriage, sorry but it isn’t!

Actually, there hasn’t been any evidence that first cousins producing offspring significantly increases the likelihood of chromosomal problems. It drops off extremely rapidly out of immediate family.

This is what we’re doing to those smart, right-minded couples who truly love each other while also happening to be blood-related. No, it’s not a good idea if they breed, but not every relationship requires reproduction. Gay couples all but prove that.  Yup, it’s fucked up that more states allow incestuous marriage but gay marriage is a big no-no, but take a look at the mirror. Aren’t we prejudiced against incest as they are against gays? Don’t give me that biological spiel as “proof” that incest is wrong. Science does not prove something is wrong. That’s exactly what it can’t prove.

Seriously, Iowa has gay marriage but us liberal Mid-Atlantic east coasters don’t? Whaaa!

It surprises me that a lot of the states that allow same-sex marriage allow the marriage of cousins actually. They kind of seem to be going in opposing directions.

Even though it’s being challenged, the fact that Iowa is one of few states to allow same-sex marriage makes me very proud to call this boring and flat place home.

Can’t speak for the other states, but in Wisconsin first cousins may only marry if post-menopause in women or if one of them is medically verifiably sterile. It has more to do with inheritance law than actual marriage.

Totally reasonable. So long as the cousins are of a different sex, at least.

New Jersey sadly does not perform nor recognize same sex marriage. Hopefully, we will be riding on the coat tails of New York after tonight.
