Chipotle Will Start Delivering To College Students This Fall

The semester just got delicious. By spring, Chipotle delivery will be available at 100 campuses.

Chipotle's restaurants are already some of the busiest in the business, and now the company is looking at a new option to grow its sales: delivering its tacos and burrito bowls straight to hungry kids on college campuses.

The delivery option will begin via the mobile ordering app Tapingo, which focuses on college students. This fall, Tapingo will offer Chipotle delivery to 40 college campuses nationwide. It will expand to 100 campuses by spring 2016.

Fast food chains, which traditionally rely on drive-thru and walk-in traffic, are looking for new ways to reach customers. Chipotle has already been offering delivery in 67 cities through the service Postmates, which also delivers Starbucks and McDonald's in certain markets. Chipotle said in April that Postmates orders were growing 30% month-over-month.

Students have long been an important customer base for Chipotle, which began near the University of Denver in 1993.
