I used to think the disdain for hipsters was exaggerated. One day, I took a bus through Williamsburg and saw a girl wearing a raccoon fur hat in 100 degree weather, and she paused momentarily while a guy on a fixie took a photo of her with his DSLR, presumably for his street fashion blog. Then, I knew… this shit is real.

We complain about hipsters the same way we used to complain about douchey alternakids or emo crybabys. Humor is just the homogenization of a style or art to make it palliable, because we’re really tired of hearing about LCD Soundsystem breaking up.
