Photo-Realistic Oil Paintings
Yigal Ozeri shoots photographs of his models and digitally works on them in his computer using Photoshop. Then he prints the photos and uses them as a guide to paint with oil on large canvas.

m wolf a year agoHe doesn’t paint them himself. He employs a cadre of talented assistants who paint directly on the printed photos matching the color. He has gone to such lengths as splattering paint on his pants and hiding his assistants when company comes over to give the appearance that he paints.

At least he takes the photos himself and edits them himself. I’m sure the addition of oil paint lends part of the ethereal quality seen in each of these examples. It would be more accurate to call these mixed media.

I disagree with tommos. This is the modern-day equivalent of getting your subject to sit for a portrait, something that not many would be willing to do anymore thanks to how quickly photography can take the same image. He does incredible work.
