Cycling shorts usually have padded crotches because of the extra pressure the saddle puts on that area. The stitching is to further reinforce that area because, again, of the extra wear and tear due to the saddle. Trust me, you don’t want to go on an extended bike ride without it.

I totally get that suits need padding and that needs stitching but why does the stitching have to contrast to the point it’s a crotch bullseye? Why not use matching thread?
