A lot of sexist people don’t even know they’re sexist. It comes down to this: do you behave in a way that is respectful to the person. Or let me put it this way: would you want your daughter to be the object of that statement/joke/implication? and no, there is not anything funny about domestic violence. If you’ve ever been the victim of it, you would know that. Terror is never funny to the terrorized or anyone who cares about them. If you think it’s funny because you really don’t think women are people, have the balls to say it out loud. Don’t hide behind the defense that we should get over it.
