Home Depot Apologizes Profusely After An Insensitive Tweet

1. Home Depot is on a fantastic online apology tour after someone posted the following picture from their Twitter account.

3. Given the hurtful history of black people being compared to apes and monkeys, many took offense to the image and its caption.

Wow, @HomeDepot really put a monkey between two black dudes and said guess which is not like the other? I bet @Lowes wouldn't pull that crap

8. As a result, Home Depot basically apologizing to every single person on Twitter.

They are deeply sorry for the dumb tweet and have deleted it.

10. They even shot apologies to the NAACP, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson, who didn’t even comment on the tweet.

Preemptive apologies? Kind of genius when you think about it.

14. Home Depot has since reported that the person responsible for the tweet has been fired.

We have zero tolerance for anything so stupid and offensive. Deeply sorry. We terminated agency and individual who posted it.
