jof2 6 months agoYes, you have the right in this country to follow the religion of your choice, free from persecution; however, the flip-side of that is that the government remains separate from all religions, and will not vote religious doctrine into law. Also, if marriage is merely a spiritual issue, then no marriage should be legally recognized.

derickl 6 months agoNo matter what you think of this topic, the vitriol and malice in the comments on these pictures is appalling. If you think these students are bigoted or propagators of hate because of their beliefs about homosexuality, what does it say about you if you’re judging them and calling them names based on their religious beliefs? Two wrongs never make a right and the comments on both side of this issue are what prevent real discourse and progress to ever take place for us as a socity.

Kte McA 6 months agoAllison, they aren’t saying you should accept unacceptable behavior. They’re saying that as someone who recognizes the ignorance of intolerance you have the opportunity to extend healing to those who are still in the dark to their own actions. That doesn’t come by writing them off and saying screw it. “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” Martin Luther King Jr. Seriously, please don’t throw someone’s cartoon out as a blanket response. Don’t tolerate intolerance, but tolerate people - and more than that - seek them out with all of the love that you know SHOULD be in the world and show them that there is a better way.

The Bible is also against divorce and remarriage. Where’s our constitutional ban on that? If we’re going to allow the government to base laws on the Bible, we need to start banning a lot more than gay marriage.

They may quote the Bible, but they know little of what it said historically, and what’s more they don’t see it in the cultural context of the time. If you do any credible research, the Bible is practically silent on the issue of homosexuality. And many Christians know that. We’re not all the same! :(

dylanh11 6 months agoAll 14 of these people need to wake the F**k up and live in these times, god is dead and know book or person in this world has a right to say who someone can marry…. We don’t vote for them to marry, why should it even be a choice for them to say “yes” or “no” for two men or two women to marry? Also are future does not depend on weather gays get married out not. this world has much larger problems in it..

noahb6 6 months ago#s 5, 7, 8, and 9 have not read the bible. As it is written, god sanctions the marriage of one man and many wives, marriages of men to slaves, forced marriages of widows to brother-in-laws, and adults to girls aged 12 and older. If they want to use religious arguments for marriage, they cannot cherry pick and have to defend those marriages too!
