themaybeblock 7 months agoI’m voting yes because… A. I’ve swallowed every ridiculous fairytale my willfully ignorant parents and church fed me. Not having to think for myself makes life so easy that I can’t stop smiling like an abused housewife from the 1950’s. I also lack the foresight to see how embarrassing these photos will be for all my children, grandchildren and all future generations. B. I am an obviously self-loathing closet case who is terrified of being discovered, yet the easiest one to get a handjob from at church camp. C. I lack the mental capacity for empathy, critical thought or historical analysis. The more facts you throw at me, the more I will smile smugly to mask my seething hatred for you. I will then follow with a cherry-picked, anachronistic old testament quote, some misguided pity for your soul, and follow with some shockingly unearned arrogance to bolster my fragile ego.

Rachel L 7 months agoIf there were one reason not invoking religion or some sort of spiritual belief I might understand why some people take this stance on this secular issue. However, there are none.
If you as a religious leader don’t want to officiate same sex marriages then you don’t have to. That’s your right. But this is an issue about the state and how these people are perceived in terms of governmental benefits. Religion should not be invoked. -

MMR 7 months agoPose real purdy for the camera, sweeties. You’ll be on the wrong side of history rather soon and the internet never forgets. People lose jobs or miss job opportunities because of pictures found online or certain content they’ve posted. Why don’t people get fired or miss out on a job for shit like this?

davids37 7 months ago*sigh* ok, here we go with my response to each picture! 1. “I believe that Jesus died for me, now it’s my turn to live for him.” I’ve read the Bible and this is what Jesus preached about homosexuality, “_______!” 2.“It’s the way God designed life to be, and a child needs a mom and a father.” Actually, a child needs someone who’ll love them instead of being left in the system. I don’t care if the caregiver is 2 moms, 2 dads, a mom and dad, a single mom or a single dad. Doesn’t matter! 3.“It’s what I believe in.” What’s your reason for believing it? 4.“Our future depends on it.” Who’s future, exactly? Yours? What about OUR future you narrow minded bigot? 5.“Romans 1:26-27 – I believe in the Bible and in religious liberty!” I believe in religious liberty. I’m Wicca and we believe that all people have the right to love and marry the person they fall in love with! 6.“I’m taking a stand for what is right.” So, denying people the same rights as you have is…well…right? 7.I believe that God has sanctioned marriage to be between one man & one woman!” Check your Bible, Sweetheart. The Godliest men in the Bible had multiple wives and concubines! 8.“God calls us to enjoy marriage, but with his standards of man and woman as it was created.” Check #7 above. 9.“Christ calls us to take a stand on marriage.” Once again, this is what Jesus Christ preached about homosexuality, “_______!” 10.No sign, just two idiots wearing a giraffe and tiger outfit with their arms around each other. I guess they’re into furries! 11.“===>” point at girlfriend. I’ll make a sign pointing at my boyfriend and then your sign will be invalid! 12.“Marriage is a spiritual covenant, not a secular issue.” Really, try getting legally married without the secular government issuing you a marriage certificate! 13.“I believe in the sanctity of marriage” OK, let me get this STRAIGHT…Kelsey Grammer can end a 15 year marriage by phone, Larry King has had 8 divorces, Britney Spears had a “just for fun 55 hour marriage, Kim Kardashian’s marriage cost 10 million dollars and it lasted only 72 days, Newt Gingrich had affairs while his 1st and 2nd wives were very ill, Jesse James & Tiger Woods, while married, were having sex with EVERYONE, 43-50% of “traditional marriages” end in divorce and 30-60% cheat on their spouses. Yet, same-sex marriage is going to destroy the sanctity of marriage? Really? 14.“Marriage is a picture of Christ & the church.” Speak for your own church, Darling. And besides, I thought gay marriage was going to lead to the marriage of inanimate objects, but Christ and a church, WOW!!!!

Time to pick and choose what to follow in the Bible. I’m Catholic, but I believe the the Bible is about love and respecting each other. I’m not going to take it literally because it was written in a different time that can not be applied to our world. The message of the Bible is what’s important, that God wants us to love, protect one another, and be as kind in his name. God would not reject a mutual respectful love in any form. He is love and to deny that for someone else goes against the Bible.
