UPDATED: Founder Of TOMS Shoes Accidentally Headlines An Event For An Organization That Condemns Homosexuality

Blake Mycoskie is the founder of TOMS shoes which are mostly worn by youthful social groups that tend to trend liberal. Well apparently in complete opposition with the majority of his clientele he headlined an event for Focus On The Family, the evangelical Christian, right wing non-profit that condemns homosexuality and abortion. UPDATE: A rare happy ending to all of this: Blake has released a sincere apology explaining he makes so many appearances that he doesn't fully background check every organization he visits. He fully supports gay rights. This also makes me happy because I knew we couldn't hate that face!

  • Regarding the massive shoe donations to third world countries

I also don't believe that just because Toms does a good deed in donating all those free shoes (one could argue their whole business model is based on this but whatever let's call them saints) doesn't mean this other thing they do can't be reported on. That makes no sense whatsoever.

  • Finally

The homosexuality issue, in my opinion, is important enough to define an organization. All of the other facts such as being Christian or right-wing although I may not agree with those beliefs are just important to be mentioned because they are the opposite of the clientele.
