I still don't get if all the girls are Today's Fail because they're ugly or…. it's just that the editor is such a smarty pants that blatantly managed to use a good title to get us all here with the mere illusion of getting to see hot girls in nerdy costumes… and then slap us with dull chicks. Blah!

So, I'm the Supergirl in number 6.  First off, I don't consider myself particularly attractive, in the real world or the geek world. (Though I do guarantee I am not QUITE as manfaced as that photo portrays.) I give props to all cosplayers, because people like ya'all on the internet rip them apart. It's just a chance that you take. And the fact that its a vast majority of chicks saying these horrible things? Not at all surprising. It's like Highschool. And if it makes you feel better about yourself, then sure, go for it.  I wore this costume because I'm a huge comic book fan, and I loved Michael Turner's take on the design for Kara. I doubt very many of these girls were paid to be there. I would go so far to say that a lot of them are comic fans.  I'm not trying to get you to stop saying mean things on the internet (That would be straight up retarded) but it's not as though these girls all walk through the con floor thinking they are hot shit. (Maybe some do, I dont know.) But, personally its something I do out of fandom.  Just my ugly 2 cents.

This is what happens when you under-appreciate awkward girls in high school - they turn to the only segment of the male population that're (they think) going to freak out if a girl talks to them, and ta-da! Instant control. Or so they think, because years of reinforcement via the impressionable media has taught them so. In reality, nerds can see real nerds from a mile away. The girls you want to talk to are the ones who wear cargo pants and are myopic. The ones who dress up for attention? You're lucky if they can name the female ninja turtle, much less who they're dressed up as.
