Of course, it’s only TV - only supposed to be ‘entertaining’. But this is the reason I stopped reading Martin’s books (not like he cares, millions of others (some of whom I call emotional junkies - those who get off on intense emotion whether good or bad) will keep buying, and keep watching. I myself haven’t watched nor subscribed to HBO since mid last season, as it became clear to me that George & the writers were preparing to lead the viewers into what for many is very unpleasant emotional upheavals. I have caught a few episodes since then, as I enjoy watching Peter’s career and acting finally gain the accolades he deserves, but regarding the show (and by extension, the books - or the reverse?) I long ago made the decision that real life provides plenty of sadness, betrayal, and death - one of the reasons I spend what little TV time I have not watching this show. To each his own, as they say.
