I am sensitive to viewers for whom situations depicting sexual violence can be jarring, and offensive, but I’m perplexed as to why Austenland should be singled out, as being transgressive. The obstacle of the overly lecherous male character is a trope that is ubiquitous in the romantic comedy genre. Is it fucked up? well, that would be an article to read. What you describe doesn’t sound too off base for what movie audiences should expect from such fare.
