Think Unlimited Is Revolutionizing Education In The Middle East

Think Unlimited equips and empowers Arab youth to become social innovators through a groundbreaking program called Solutionaries.

Adna Maiteh is an alumna of our Solutionaries course at Zarqa University in Jordan. She is working to combat the diabetes epidemic and other health crises in Jordan by offering healthy food options on her university's campus.

“At some point in the Solutionaries course I thought, come on, people tell you that you can’t do anything to create change, and all the big brains are in Europe and the U.S., so if you have an idea, someone else has already done it better. [Arab youth] are just troublemakers.

But Solutionaries gave me the idea that you really can do something. If you think you can change something, here’s how you do it. They gave us examples of people who have reached their goals. They told us that you’ll have a lot of obstacles and troubles but this is normal and it doesn’t mean you should stop. It means you should work three times as hard.

Omar Sabha is one of 350 Arab youth currently enrolled in Think Unlimited's Solutionaries course. Omar is pursuing a degree in accounting at the American University of Madaba in Jordan, and is passionate about social justice. He dreams of working in international humanitarian law.

“Because our motto is Solutionaries, this class helps us find solutions to personal problems, cultural problems, and global problems. By having grit, being hard-working, having empathy for other people, and by making people understand that it’s okay to be different from everybody else, we solve these problems. Personally, I want to be a human rights activist one day, and I hope, because of this class, I will achieve that.”

Ahmed Ajil is a member of the Think Unlimited Transformation Team, and he facilitates our Solutionaries course at two Jordanian universities. But he's also a Solutionary — he started a company that teaches Parkour, a sport that involves overcoming environmental obstacles through creative use of the body and mind.

"I started practicing Parkour with a friend at age 18, and there were often teenagers asking if they could learn from us. Most of them were outside of society in some way - kids who had problems with family and school, and issues with their self-confidence. It was great to see them grow in Parkour because they found a way to push themselves and develop some self-worth.

"Working at Think Unlimited has opened my eyes to how Parkour is not only physical but psychological. It's about saying nothing is impossible and you can always go beyond your expectations. Teaching Solutionaries has formalized those ideas for me.
