when blig jr was little, i used to stand on the landing every morning before school and yell “hey, short round, quit foolin’ around with that kid and get over here!”. he would run across the room and leap into my arms and we’d go down the stairs, jumping the last 3-4. then, one day he jumped with his knee up and i ended up in the emergency room with a contusion around my ribs. it was magical while it lasted.
