thedanhare a year agoPeople really need to stop conflating these two things. On one hand, you have Bill Maher using an offensive word to describe Sarah Palin. He believed Sarah Palin’s character to be so reprehensible to be deserving of such commentary, so he made the comment. On the other hand, you have Rush Limbaugh, who spent three days disparaging the character of a private citizen who’s crime was to testify before Congress about a womens’ health issue. The three-day tirade included name-calling, inaccuracies regarding contraception itself, and, ultimately, a call for all women that take the pill to post pornographic videos on the Internet. These two things are not alike. Rush Limbaugh has demonstrated a disdain for womens’ issues here, while Bill Maher has demonstrated a disdain for one person. In this situation, Limbaugh has attacked a private citizen for voicing concerns, while showing a complete lack of understand of the actual issue, while Maher attacked somebody who’s, honestly, kind of a bitch.
