RNA transmission from food to consumer has been reported before now although I think the microRNA angle is possibly novel. However, linking specious questions of the safety of GM foods to this is disingenuous alarmism: the likelihood of introducing anything toxic this way is vanishingly small. Cells have been responding to foreign RNAs - mainly from viral infections - for a VERY long time now and have sophisticated defenses against them. A few extra bits of RNA without any capacity to self-replicate or any nasty tricks to slip by the cell's defences are unlikely to cause any problems.
